so yesterday, my bud locked my hubs..but failed to lock my left hub fully (which i didnt kno at the time) this caused it to slip out at around 45 mph which caused a violent vibration on my steering wheel and the truck its self. i unlocked the hubs tell my destination..presto vibration was gone. today..i locked em again..cuz i was havin the werid vibration on the trail...and today...no vibration...but when i turn left (not even cranked) it pops and u can feel every thing within the steering wheel (which led me to believe it had to deal with something in my steering) but it only does it with the hubs locked..which leaves me to believe its my CV axel. im gunna post a vid of it tomorrow or something so u can get a better idea of what im talkin about. Help guys? also how much is a new CV axel?

Pop off the hub and take a look at the end of the splines, and the hub assembly itself.

:headscratch: Are the boots torn? Might have done some damage to the hub too. Grab the axle shaft and see if it moves around. Also check he splines around the hub. You are looking at about $70.00 for a rebuilt halfshaft.

yeah the boots are torn, when my pops gets home ill take my hubs off and check it out. thanks guys=)

Sounds like you may need new halfshafts if the boots are torn, probably got full of dirt.

but the thing that got me is....it was just fine until i hit 45 mph (which was the 1st time i tried goin that fast with the hubs locked) and my buddy nate...i love the kid but....hes not use to manual hubs...which leads me to believe he didnt lock them all the way...after all they are WARN...so u gotta do a complete 360 instead of a 180 like the ASINS to lock em.

Still from the description of the sound it is making (clicking) and vibration, it could easily be the halfshafts. Fortunatly if the splines are also a part of the problem those will be replaced when you replaces the halfshafts. About the only other thing that could be bad at that point would be the hubs and you should use Aisin's anyways since they are the best thing out there.

well ill get some new half shafts and boots after x-mas (insurance payment is due...as well as presents arent cheap..lol) and hopefully since ill be outta school on x-mas break..i can work hella hours, then on top of that make some dough through gifts...then get my taxes back=) i wanna drop one of my front shocks anyway...its just beating the crap outta my truck..and eating away at some extra flex.

Rocksurfer

Removing a shock won't change much in articulation, will make for a softer ride though.
