You can get 1.5" lift using ball joint spacers. 4Crawler sells them.

Don't forget the differential drop to keep cv joint angles down.
http://4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/DiffDrop.shtml

You can crank the T-bars, but that just makes the rig ride real stiff.  If your looking for a smooth ride on and off road, don't crank the bars if you don't have to.

You should be able to crank up the torsion bars and get some lift without it getting stiff.  It should only get stiff if you peg them out!

you can also get new lift torsion bars, they are pretty slick, allows you to crank them up, and not lose any of the stock ride feel

.................... i have tried to run the torsion bars up but it really didnt give me any .... .................

That doesn't make any sense. I had an 87 Runner and cranked the bars 10 full turns each(3600 degrees) to give me 1.5" lift. I thought the ride was close to before...perhaps somewhat more firm but very acceptable for a FREE lift.

The key to doing it is make sure both tires are off the ground(the bolts will turn easier) and spray WD40 on the threads to lube them, mark the bolt heads and count off 10 turns.

I'd agree 1.5 is easy enough and for even a little more, shaved bumpstops or flat new ones work wonders.

Just keep an eye on your cv joints.  Being cranked up can cause them to split open.  Get the diff drop and you won't have to worry about that.

I've got a bad boot on my cv joint and I don't want to spend  :twocents: on something that will get tossed into a dumpster one day!  But the clicking and popping is driving me nuts!

I've never had an issue with my boots unless they were old and in need of replacement anyways.

I'd only use the urethane bump stops on the extension (only the spring force behind the arms)

On compression the rubber stops have more give and act like a spring when you can have the full weight of the truck crashing down on them..........
