I just bought an 83 yota, it has white steel wheels on it right now, but they're rusty as hell.

I love the look of the steelies, but I think they're 15x5 or something and they're way to rusty to spend money on.

Anyways, I don't have a lot of money to spend on this thing, so I'm wondering what sort of rim width and back spacing I should be looking at to run either a 31x10.5R15 or 32x11.5R15

Can I run a 15x7 with 3.5 inches of backspacing and fit the 31s on stock suspension? What about the 32s, I'd like the biggest tire I can get without lifting.

Thanks, I'm not sure how to figure this out without simply asking

i think the stock wheel is a 15x7 and the stock BS for a yota wheel is i believe 4" (:dunno:) so you shudnt have any problems running a 31.  i think people run as big as 33x10.5 stock without any mods to the fenders or any clearancing. jus read a few threads about first gens (in this section) and see what you can find or search

The stock white steelies are 15x6.

Interestingly enough they say 15x5 on them, but I don't believe that because my manual says 15x5.5 or 15x6 is what they came with...

you can measure them :dunno:

just sandblast them and repaint

Because I can!  :P

White wheels are 15x7 with 31"s (I'm pretty sure)  No rubbing issues w/ stock suspension.

Black whees are 15x8 (pretty sure) with 32" or 33"  Rub a little on stock suspension.

The backspacing on stock wheels is certainly not 4 inches. It's more like 3 and 3/8"...

The pic in the first post looks like a trailer wheel, 6 on 5.5 is the standard trailer axle pattern, and 15x5 is common. Someone might have swapped trailer wheels on at some point?
