Pack It Out At Glamis
« on: Sep 24, 2008, 09:18:00 PM »
So they charge fees for you to use Glamis, they have said in the past it was to provide services to the people that use the area which included upgrading camping locations, staging areas and trash service. Well trash service is done so you must now pack out your trash. They say the money is needed elsewhere but they don't tell us where elsewhere is. I don't have a problem packing my trash out when I'm on the trail and generally it is expected but Glamis was set up this way due to people leaving their trash all over. Guess it will soon look like a trash dump again.

At least someone is thinking that this won't work. As usual this pigs that don't care will foul it up for those that do, who would have thought this to work in such a high profile area. I don't disagree that we should remove what we brought but unfortunately the past has shown that this won't work.

Well we have some good news, Imperial County has picked up the ball and will take care of the trash situation for this season. I would still get used to packing it out since this is only a 1 year reprieve.

couldnt agree more. i have been going to glamis for as long as i can remember and i also remember when it was littered with trash. the dumpsters really did help and its a damn shame they dont realize it. responsible people will pack it out but the idiots wont. that really sucks for all of us. even more the reason to close more dunes or close all together. just doesnt make sense to me

Here's the latest on the trash pick up in the dunes, currently we are good until May. I think that is the norm anyways since that ends the season out there. Lets keep our fingers crossed it continues next season.

Lets hope they continue the trash service there  :crossed: because, like has already been said, if that becomes the reason that more trash is left behind, it will become the reason that more likely the dunes will be closed.  :maddest: :tantrum:

The signs were up, back in Nov, when we were there, stating that trash service would no longer be there as of Feb 1st.  :rivers:
