it was on this day in 2001 in my 8th grade English class, that i knew i was going to join the Military, and protect the freedoms that i love to enjoy on a daily basis..

Well here it is 2008 and i sit today in Iraq serving in the USAF!

We should never forget this and the changes that it made in our lives. It's sad that some people have already forgotten why we are fighting in foreign countries. If we don't bring it to them they will bring here and do more of this. We still are the sleeping giant, we've been stirred but have yet to wake. Keep us that way or you will realize what hell you put a few of us through will be nothing compared to the hell that will descend on you.

I remember that day, the news on TV in the hangar...the citizens of this nation must strive to keep the story from being watered down or "lefty-fied". We must also be vigilant that the tenuous hold on our precious freedoms not be thrown by the wayside in the effort to maintain security. Legislation like the Patriot Act can, all too easily, be turned inward against law abiding citizens...in the blink of an eye...or oozing like molasses in January.

I was listening to the radio this morning, and one guy was saying that he'll never forget exactly what he was doing and where he was the moment he heard about the first tower, then the second.

I remember so clearly.  When I first heard about the first tower, I had just gotten out of the shower and turned on my radio.  I was unwrapping my hair to brush it.  When I got to the cafeteria for breakfast I remember hearing about the second tower.  I am pretty sure I will never forget those moments.  Thinking "Well, this doesn't really concern us, it's in New York for cryin out loud".  (I didn't know what the twin towers were).  So my first class was History of all classes, and my teacher is a politics guru.  We watched the breaking news the entire class period and throughout the entire day.  Some of my classmates had family in NY at the time.  It was quite a day - almost like sludging through 4 foot of snow... the entire week went forever :sad2:

Isn't it funny that we remember exactly where we were and what we were doing at the moment the news on what was happening? I was sitting in my Nissan Sentra on my way to work, on the I-105 at the I-710 interchange in the #4 lane merging into the #3 lane since the #4 lane was ending going about 2 mph in traffic. I looked across the I-710 to the north and said "Wow it's on now."

I was sitting in my geometry class when another teacher ran into the room and turned the TV on, and set it to the news. At the time I didn't realize the significance of what had happened, being 15, but I sure as hell do now...
