pull the motor and swap it in, all the efi stuff,  sell

the diesel is very simple,  1 wire to fuel pump(or a pull cable) and alternator wireing THATS ALL

the bell housing on the diesel should  bolt to your efi tranny,   thats all,  motor mounts are from what ive heard same as a 22Re

IF it's a 1/2L, but if it's a 2LE or 2LTE it won't have a mechanical pump but an electric pump and I think a computer.

For $700 I'd say buy it, but I'd have to know what it was and what year it is.  Any of the 2L diesels aren't exactly toyotas best effort.

Low, very low.  That's a 1L, and while it's a dependable engine it's by no means a powerhouse.  The neatest thing about them is they can get around 45mpg if tuned properly!  I've been looking for an 81-83 toyota diesel pickup for quite some time and would jump on the chance to get one in good running condition, no matter the condition of the rest of it!

no, 1L as in the name of the engine --- like 22r,22re, 22ret, 3rz, 2rz, 3vz, etc

The 1L is the first L engine produced -- 2.2L (2188cc), 4 cylinder diesel engine. Output is 62 hp (46.2 kW) at 4200 rpm and 93 ft·lbf (126 N·m).

I drove one for a while in high school it was a first gen 2wd long bed, delivering paint for a paint store (go figure) it was gutless a total pig but got incredible mileage and you could bark the tires shifting into 2nd all day long, but man it was down right dangerous trying to merge onto the freeway or pulling out into traffic.  They traded up to an Isuzu P'up also a diesel non turbo but way more responsive and would bark 3rd!  I say go for it a straight pipe, more air, and fuel adjustments should perk it up and you will get great MPG out of it.
