SO I HAVE A 85 4RUNNER IVE BEEN WORKING ON FOR 4 YEARS.  IVE TOUGHT MY SELF from reading on marlin pirate etc. WORKING OUT OF MY PARENTS driveway.  i decided when i blew the engine 4 years ago i wanted more power. it seemed to me i was going to get most out of a 22rte and i thought my skill want up for much more.  i bought a 86 turbo pick up pulled the engine and tranny and took it to a shop to have it rebuilt.  it took the guy 2 years( i was in medic school and testing for fire depts. so i never bugged him)  6 moths ago i got it running and it started ticking almost imediatly. i towed it back to the machine shop and he is now just looking at it.  in the mean time. i have aquired almost every part i could ever wantfor a toyota.  i have elockers gears multiple leaf packs  interior cage dual cases multiple axles. longfields. . alsoi upgraded to a supra turbo so i havde hundreds of dollers in exhaust work doe. i powder coated my valve cover ceramic coated my exhaust manifold. i have hummer rims recenterd.  shock hoops.  shocks out my ears. and 2 seats of differnt sliders.  Im up to my ears in parts for years now and i cant even install them cuz the thing dosent run.  i have alcans i have 44 labs highsteer.  i wish i would have gone with a used 22re or a 3rz.

a 3rz would be wicked but im in to the 22rte for 3000 and i cant justify spending anymore on a vehicle that has sat for 4 years.!!!!!!

sorry for this rant i need to get it out of my system so sorry if im wasting peoples time or sound like i am bitching.    it comes down to me being too nice and not wanting to harrass the machine shop guy, and not having time because i have spent the last 5 or so years trying to get hired witha city fire dept.
9 wich i have any that is what is most improtant.  so again this is more of a stress relief for me.  i should title this i miss my 4runner and i am frustrated with the machine shop.  wish i could find some one to  help me with a 3rz swap

Rob, you seriously need to go in and have a talk with the guy.  See what he's done, what he's doing and what he plans to do to make the situation right.  Let him know you've been extremely patient until now but need to get something done asap to make you happy.  Hopefully he's already torn into it and found the issue, which sounds like it's most likely his fault anyway!

thats the thing, he hasnt done :pokinit: (not rob) but the engien guy..... i went with rob to the shop one day (awfter we called like 15 times) and we were banging on the door for 10 minutes, he let rob in, and rob came out 10 minutes later...... said it was cool.... but really nothing was done....

i've been helping rob out with his build, so i kinda know whats going on......

rob hasn't had the time to deal with it, partially because he's been busy, but the machine shop guy is being a turd...... rob is such a nice guy, this guy is walking all over him....

as far as him tearing into it, i doubt he's even touched it yet... he pretty much only does it when rob is there breathing down his neck... otehrwise, he's already got the $ so he doenst care.....

ROB GO KICK HIS BUTT!!!!!!

rob, i hate to say it, but you may need to look into filing a claim with the BBB..... or at least htreaten it..... that may motivate him......

DTB

i can understand your frustration with all of this...but I have to ask...

Did you get positive references for this guy working on toy engines before you dropped it off?

I mean :pokinit:, I can drop off my engine at any Joe blow shop and be pissed when they dont have a clue what they are doing...does that make THEM wrong?

want to come and pick me up? i'll kick his butt for ya ;) j/k ... but no... really.....

DTB, it isn't so much the guy doesn't know what he is doing, but is a flake..... hell, it took him 2 years to rebuild it, and when there was a problem, took over 6 months before he had time to look @ it... that's just shitty service...... it wasn't such an issue, since rob had other stuff going on..... but damn it does suck, especially now he can get to it, and he has waited so long and spent countless nights in the dark wrenching and countless amount of $ on it... ot have it start ticking like stupid crazy, shortly after it's run
