« on: Aug 12, 2008, 09:27:27 AM »
Ok so most everything I know about off roadin I have taught myself or learned a little from people and magazines but not that much. I was just wonderin about like everything. Like gears and ratios and how exactly does a locker work basically anything off road related. I know what some of this stuff does but I dont know how it works and stuff and I really want to learn. Thanks

READ!!!

Start here:  (I assume you have a toyota)

http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=459180

Read this entire site:

http://www.4crawler.com/

This will keep you busy for DAYS!!

As far as "how stuff works"  I'd literally type into google, "How does a locker work"  and start reading.  I'd stay away from forum posts , and focus on technical manuals that google finds..

The tech setion of this site..

http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/support.htm

Tech section of pirate

http://pirate4x4.com/tech/

This should keep you busy for the rest of the week.

Welcome to the sport!  (hobby, money pit)  :D

Also try pirate4x4.com.  Read the FAQ in the toyota/4Runner section.  Don't post, or you will get flamed.

Yeah don't even sneeze there, they can smell a noob that is a true noob to the game. Most everyone there is very knowledgeable on vehicles, they do have a noob section that is supposedly flame free. That's not saying that you can't get the same info here and for the most part flame free.
