get the two 54mm nuts off anytruck. ifs or solid axle. also get the locknut thing inbetween them. then bolt on your aisin hubs. o there are two 54m nuts on each side. but u still have the a.d.d system no matter what, unless u swap out tranny and t-case

SWAMPER

But in order to "lock" my hubs I would still have to get out and lock em right?

Skinny_Pedal

yes u would, but your t-case has vacumm lines. but there is a way to disconnect the a.d.d system so u dont get that popping noise. this should explain things   http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/add/index.htm

Hold on there...you don't need the 54mm nuts for a 94 and I'm pretty sure it matters whether you get the aisin hubs from a solid axle or ifs.  Get the hubs from a IFS truck.

Here's a couple writeups:
http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/metal22lica_hubs/metal22lica.htm
http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/matt_hubs/matt_hubs.htm

It's a simple swap where you just unbolt the ADD hub and bolt on the manual hub.  You might want to pick up some gaskets from the dealer though.

Here's a writeup on how to rebuild the manual hub:
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/front_end/hub_rebuild/

And here's another writeup on how to defeat the ADD vacuum stuff:

Well IH-392 and myself were my hubs out but he says that my hubs arent the problem...the the problem lies on my cv shafts...now what do I do...where can I get some... ???

Hey If my hubs are blown would I still have 4x4 or it would not engage at all  :headscratch:

CV = constant velocity U-Joint, like your front driveshaft, replaceable with any off-the-shelf U-joint, but different greasing methods applied.

if your hubs are blown, you would have to get them to stay in temporarily, until you could get back to the main road. with Warn's, if the hub blows out, you can use 2 of the screws & a metal plate to keep them engaged, since the hub has to be pushed in to operate in 4wd.

SWAMPER

Well I still have ADD I was going to do the conversion today with AISINS but IH 392 told me that my hubs werent the problem (dint do it to save money) ok so the cv shafts how many do i have and how much are they going for...where do I get em...does Marlin makey? :headscratch:

I believe that the CV's that IH was talking about was the axle CV's, and not the driveline CV's. find out what size they are ( most are 1310 ), and count them. USUALLY, CV's have 2 per shaft, but it is NOT uncommon to see 3 per shaft. jack up the truck, block the rear tires, put in Neutral, but NO E-BRAKE, IN 4WD, spin the front wheels, and see how many U-joints are in each side. Then, you'll have to take the shafts out, and either you replace them ( not recommended at this time, unless you have TONS of equipment for vehicles ) or take them to a driveline shop, where they can do it right in front of you.

Ok so Im selling my yota right   JK

Skinny_Pedal

do what i do. dont spend any money on the ifs. then you;ll have tht money to out into sas. right now i need to pretty muchi need to have the whole front end rebuilt. just new bushing and gaskets, some lube. but i aint gonna spend nothing!

The thing is that I dont like the pooping sound and buzzing so Im going to get it fixed anyway...and hopefully Ill learn enough for me to do the SAS myself and not have to pay anyone

Wow, what the heck are you guys talking about?!  Lilswamper is talking about the CV axles, not the drive shaft.  The toyota CV axles don't have U joints, they are similar in construction to birfields.  I've never heard of anybody replacing the broken parts, everybody either buys the whole thing from an auto parts store with a lifetime warranty (about $80) or gets them used.  If you go the lifetime warranty route, then if you break them again take them back and get the replaced for free.

Checkout yotatech, 4x4wire, and pirate, people are always selling those things after they do a SAS.  I got mine used for about $30 shipped.  You can rebuild them in the sense that you can replace boots when they crack.

Lilswamper, look under your truck near the tires and you'll see the axle shaft with 2 rubber boots at the ends.  You have to replace that whole thing.  Do a search on yotatech and 4x4wire and you'll find some writeups on how to replace it.

Well I bet that I could get some help and do it...so its like 80 bucks new? ...could I find these at NAPA and I would need 2 right so it would come out to like 160  :headscratch:

You need to get under there and take a look.  Check to see if your boots are cracked.  If the boots are cracked and it's been like that for a while, then go ahead and replace the whole axle as the joint has become contaminated and excessively worn.

Grab the axle itself and and shake it back and forth, there should be very little movement.  If there's movement that means it's broken.  Replace it.

I'm betting it's only 1 side that's bad, unless both sides have cracked boots.
