$107,000 Samurai Build

I'm not a samurai hater but this thing had WAY to much money poured into it.  On page 6 the guy said the total build cost was $107,000

like I said WAY to much money  and even though the work is really nice it was wasted on that rig.  I can't tell if its supposed to be an expedition style rig or what they were shooting for.

 :bull crap: on that price unless everthing is gold plated. I've seen much more extensive builds than that one that included a complete resto of the body and frame then a build from scratch with a blown 351 and all the goodies that could be thrown at it. About the only thing he didn't do was build an exo around it, cost him about $50,000 to build this.

...and he didn't do the resto, it was professionally done.

We were taking a picture of the 1st dirt that thing ever got, Trucktrader was pointing to it. He did eventually sell it and bought himself his mid-life crisis vehicle, a Vette. He sold it for around the $50,000 that he put into it.

Scott did a great job on that Sammy Kimera if I remember correctly. Too much $? yeah probly for you and me but customer and builder were both happy with the results. How do you know customer didn't have a couple midlife crisis cars and wanted a midlife crisis hunting rig. too much $ to you and me is different than too much $ to somebody else. The work is definatly high quality and I know Scott well. As a builder you build what the customer wants, give the advice you can  and do the best job you can.

Oh it is a great looking Sammi no doubt but the price is just plain crazy! The build on my friends Bronco was all custom work, nothing was store bought bolt on stuff for the most part and it still didn't cost that much. This was just after he put it on the road and the build still continued....

Front: Wild Horses rockcrawler 31/2 springs, dual Rancho RS9000 shocks
Rear: David Phillips Racing custom four link with King Racing shocks and Eibach springs
Steering: OEM steering box from 1977 Bronco, custom heim joint with double wall tubed tie rods,
GM column w/tilt and Grant steering wheel

Like I said.  Good fab skills.  Work was top notch.  I just thought it was a crazy amount to spend on that samurai.  I would do that much work is someone was paying me as well.  I would just want the owner to spend the money on more useful parts.  But again I'm not knocking it.  He did a great job in the fab work.

$50K could get you everything you would need to build the baddest Sami/Buggy imagineable.

sorry no way is that worth it. i have friends that have spent that much on full blown race trucks and sandrails that are far more capable then that..  500hp 1450 class SCORE race truck? or 102hp suzuki on 31's? i rather go with the race truck. even with all the fab work, it should have never met that cost.. just my .02

I'm sorry guys, I've got to rain on this parade...

I agree that $107k is an awful lot of money for the end result, and I agree that it is ugly and definitely NOT my style, but you know, that guy has far better fab skills than I and to see a "concept" like this turn into reality as it did, well I think that is awesome work and it turned out amazing! Again, I don't like what it "looks like", but they transformed a paper sketch into reality and I'll give him mad kudos for that work.
