Rear diff spitting oil

On hot days my rear diff is spitting oil out of the pinion seal, but not on cooler weather days.  It will still do it, but I really have to get on it and heat up the axle.  So, could it be the breather?  I'm gonna gather all the stuff to do the 4crawler method.  But is it really that easy to put a new pinion seal in with the factory crush sleeve?  I've read about it, but I haven't seen anybody actually do it.  I'm willing to pay to have it fixed, but I want to hear from you guys first!  I just don't want to it wrong and have my axle lock up on me!

Oh!  When I check the fluid it has a slight foamy appearance, any worries?

Thanks Ryan~

It sounds like your breather is clogged. :yesnod:

That's what I was thinking.  Cause I topped off the oil last night and I reached up and the top part of the breather was tight, and didn't have any give to it.  So, I got the 1/8" NPT to barbed nipple & hose clamps, just need the hose and a filter.  I'll just use a cheap canister style filter for now.  Eventually, I'll replace the pinion seal but I was trying to go on the cheap.  I've got some things in the next month that will be taking all our "saved" money!

use a couple old rear brake lines  and clean the oem filter out  and use the old brake lines to move the filter up to the frame

I'll get some pics of my temp fix, to see if it really is the filter.  I used some degreaser on it and cleaned it out, it was gunked up really bad.  But I go the 1/8" NPT fitting all buffed down with sandpaper and one of those metric thread chaser file.  It went in pretty good, and all I had was some pvc clear tubing for now.  I'll get some real hose and filter.  So far, I've got $2.00 into parts and some time!

Next time I'm in the big city, I'm gonna get me a front main seal, and a rear pinion seal from Toyota.

Here is the fix!  It has helped the leak, but it still is leaking, but not like it was.  I got tired of smelling hot 90 wt on the muffler!

I thought I'd put in my build up post, to keep all my fixes together instead of floating around this site!  :conf:
