Low sodium diet will do little for your blood pressure and nothing for your risk of heart attack or stroke.  Too little salt is MUCH more dangerous than too much salt as your body automatically regulates your sodium levels through your sweat anyway. 
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I hope he has insurance so it will only cost $20 for your medical knowledge.  I doubt very many Americans are in danger of not getting enough sodium, even if they cut back.  For example, less salt on the popcorn.

It is ok if you trust your medical issues to god and what you read in the news, but I went ahead and read the studies.  Oops, no statistically significant link between salt intake and heart attack, stroke, or all cause death.  Just another big fat old wives tale that everyone believes but no one can prove.  Kind of like the 8 - 8 ounce glasses of water per day.  A big fat pile of steaming BS.

I'm not gonna tell my mother in law.  Cause we just got her used to not putting salt on her salt!  I can lightly salt something, and she will be screaming that there is no salt on it! 

FYI, if your over and she cooks, don't eat it!  Unless you rather be eating a salt lick!

I was mostly joking and know that there are a lot of "scientific" things that are not actually truth.  My wife is a PA, like germ, so I certainly have someone to look after my health.

Did you read any studies that supported a low sodium diet or researched where the idea originated?  Most scientific studies are done with an expected result and as you know, as an engineer, it's not that difficult to make numbers support just about anything.  I'm not saying the studies you linked were wrong, just a general observation.

If you look at the link above it seems to say that the lowest blood pressures happened to the people following the DASH diet and reduced the salt intake.  Sodium is just one small factor in this study so maybe in combination with other dietary changes it can benefit.
