Third round of the WeRocks series was again at Cedar City. The courses were no joke, Lil Rich stepped it up big time, we rolled twice on the first day :o

Competition was super tight after day one with us just 4 points in the lead. Sunday we managed to open that lead to 38 to take our fith win in a row.

Huge thanks to Marlin, Christine, and the crew back at the shop for supporting us

Ya, it was a rough weekend. We did a little damage to the rig also. Mike from hendricks Motorsports is sending me a new hood bar so we can replace the right side this weekend. Here's how we did it.

It was the last obsticle on course C-3. We were on our way to spanking the course. The last gate had a choice of a bonus. The bonus was a 20 foot verticle with a crack line in the middle. We decided to take the bonus and back down it. Typically, backing down a really steep verticle is a good idea cause we run water in the front tires. This way, I can put it in 2 wheel drive and have the leading tires pulling and the trailing tires (that are weighted) dragging.
We started to line up for the bonus, but we were not far enough over cause we had to straddle the crack line. So we re positioned, I put it in 2wd, put the front transfer case in high (so I would have a little throttle if I needed it) and locked the rear ARB . As the rear tires came off the ledge, the left rear dropped out a little sooner than the right which sent me over. I tried to throttle out of it but it didn't work. I went over backwards and on to the nose of the rig (that's where the picture was taken).
After analyzing the roll on video, we found 2 problems. I DIDN"T WINCH DOWN THE FRONT AXLE. Which would have definately helped, and we should have re positioned again to get a little more square with the drop.
I am a little soar from that (and the other) roll, but fortunately the formula toy class mandates that every driver wears a neck restraint and a window net along with a 5 point harness so it wasn't that bad at all.
My 8 year old kid was sitting on the sidelines watching the whole thing. Afterwards he came up to me and said "Dad, that was totally cool" :D
