So about 6 months ago i purchased a 1982 toyota pickup with no tranny/tcase.  truck sat in a field for 6 years and everything needed to worked on.  Motor need to be rebuilt, axles needed to be rebuilt, brakes needed a new job, paint was cracked, interior looked like SH*t and a ton of other stuff.  here it is when i bought it:

well i painted the truck flat black and started to do some research.  i decided to run waggys all the way around on all four corners.  the truck already had a 3 inch rancho lift so i decided to junk em and go stock waggys.  And i started to cut the rear quarter panels off and im gonna make a rearbumper.

here are the springs.  the first pic contains the one of the front waggys and the spring from the rancho lift kit.  The second pic contains the rear waggys.

dirtbag Josh and i started to build some shackles for the front.  I has some 2x2 square tubing laying around so we cut it into 4 flat pieces of flat stock.  we cut em 8 inches a piece and drilled some 9/16 holes in em and the holes were about 7 inches apart.  I also got one of the waggys on.  i got about 5 inches of lift out of it with 7 inch shackles.

I traded my 83 L-52 tranny to Motofreak21 and he built me a sweet a$$ bling BLing bumper.  welded that sucker on today

so the right side of the truck has about 5 inches of lift and the left side has about 3 inches of lift.  From the botom of the fender straight up from the ground through hub to bottom of fender its about 43 inches on the right side and 41inches on the left side so i got to get that waggy on the left side before i drive this thing to get it to pass smog.  the axles are cockeyed.

oh yah the doors were built by brandon the moderator.  give him a design and hell build you some sweeet doors.  Thanks brandon.  Along with the bumper.  Motofreak21 or kc will hook you up with anything.  bumpers, sliders, cages or even exocages.  squaretube or roundtube he'll hook you up!!!

if you look in the picture were it shows the homebrew shackles youll notice a couple of drops of gear oil.  I neeed a new seal for the front output of the transfer case.  i was wondering if it was the same as the seal on the rear output case.?

WHITE_TRASH

yes the seal is the same.  Carquest # 223840

got a big problem... tried putting on the left side waggy and the drag link and ubolts have contact.  i cant turn right so my only solution is to find someone who could flip the ball up on the jarm  or just got crossover.  any one run the allpro double arm?  I dont want to weld a double arm!  I cant affor to be liable for something that happens.

WHITE_TRASH

I pretty much hate to suggest it but you can easily bend the arm up to clear with a torch and a prybar.  Like I said its hack but functional.  my 84 was that way when I bought it and I beat the hell out of it for 4 years before I replaced it to go crossover, so I wouldnt worry about you doing it for a short term.

Jared

so i just heat it up with a torch and it should be cool?

lowgeared

No it won't be cool....it'll be hot!!   :smack:
Friends help you move.  Real friends help you move bodies.

Jared

besides that....  does anyone know how to press a ball out and flip it?

KYOTA

Looks good, really like the bumper, need to get some bent up for my truck.

Jared

yah motofreak really hooked it up.  hes gonna start a custom tube shop in san jose pretty soon.  Only thing is he needs more customers so he could start rent.  Any takers?  Custom bumpers, sliders, cages, exocages.  he could build them for 79-95 toyotas.  hell work with you. you design it he'll build it.

So today i got bored out of my mind and i decided to build a spare tire mount. I used an old axleshaft, a 7/8 bolt and nut, and i cut some old toyota ubolts for the big old wing nut.

That spare tire mount looks pretty heavy duty. You get a turtle point for that. Nice bumper too. Looks like it's alot lighter than the one I'm gonna make.

Stupid ricers, useless wings are for penguins.

Jared

I think im gonna start making them and sellin them to people who live around here.  How does 35 bucks sound for one???  Josh(dirtbag)came over and we started to paint the bumper.  Well not just the bumper, the spare tire carrier, a rim, started planning on flames and a whole bunch of other stuff.  Ill post pics on monday when i get the digi back.  Hope yall enjoy.  more updates to come......... :beerchug:

i was kind athinking some flames onthe front portion of the hood and the front portion of the fenders....  what do you think josh?  I dont know what else i could do to the truck?  I think i gotta build those nerfs pretty soon.  Also my rear bumper.  i gotta get that goin.

Jared

do you think some time this week me and you could go out to brandons house and pick him up a 12 pack of beer and bring like 3 or 4 j-arms to his house so we could get them bad boys pressed out???  I gotta get my steering fixed SOON!  Ill buy you dinner and we could also go to FLM's house and get some metal cut up.  if you get out of work early sometime this week maybe we could gitter done on the steering of my truck.  Cant wait to hear the news on that parts truck josh.
ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

Jared

got a lot of stuff to finish still:

1. get some j-arms flipped around so my steering is resolved.
2. get my pitman arm pulled off so i could put it on my powersteering box.
3. weld my rear hangers on for the rear waggys and get a buggy leaf goin
4. build some nerf bars
5. build my rear bumper
6. then go dual cases and lengthen my d-shafts.

yeah, if I get that parts truck, I am keeping that front bumper, then go get that 83 Griffith, since it has a rear smittybilt, and put the front smittybilt on it ( temporarily ), and mod that bad boy.

If I can get insurance this week, I'll drive up in the Mega, & we'll make a trip up there, & see what we can do....

Jared

you workin today?  I plan on bobbing my bed maybe 9-10 inches

The truck is looing good.  Nice front bumper and tire carrier!  Nerf bars are the bomb.  I have hit mine so many times, they sure saved my rocker panels.  Keep the mods up!
