I know that feeling Mini, when I was living in Canyon Country there were several times we had fires rolling our way. When we moved and missed the last big fire, our old neighbors at the bottom of the hill all lost their homes and on the other side of the perimeter where we lived 2 years before that they also lost homes where they never expected to. What's really strange is when you head home for the first time and everything is gone and you turn onto your block and everything is there except for the trees and such. Gives you the true since of being lucky, and the fact that the fire dept. made their stand on your block. If the fire made it to yours lets hope this is what happens for you, sure will stink for a while though.

Last night you could see it in the air,  weird and orange.  this morning, everything had a soot and ash covering all over it.

It should be contained by now.

I'd be there with a dozer clearing a fire break if I could Mini. Hope all goes well.

:ack: Mini how's it going? I hope all is well for your folks.

My dad got evacuated from the Paradise fire... it was less than 2 miles from his house when he left on Thursday night.  He came down to stay with me - and went back yesterday.  I have no idea how much more it's grown though.

Any word on that SC fire yet?? I haven't heard anything on the radio this morning..... :dunno:

'Person Of Interest' Sought In Martin Fire
Fire 95 Percent Contained; 11 Structures Destroyed

POSTED: 8:23 am PDT June 16, 2008
UPDATED: 8:37 am PDT June 16, 2008

Fire crews gained the upper hand Monday morning on the wildfire burning in the Santa Cruz mountains for six days.

The Martin Fire burned at least 520 acres in the Bonny Doon area just off Highway 1.

At least 11 structures have been destroyed and nearly 800 firefighters have worked to bring the fire to 95 percent containment.

CAL FIRE officials said the fire has cost $4.3 million so far.

Fire crews worked through the weekend to water down hotspots that could spark other fires.

"The ground is still very hot," said Bill Peters, with CAL FIRE. "With our weather pattern we're seeing here, that could be very dangerous if we just said, 'Yeah, let's just go home.' We can't. We have to make doubly certain."

Fire officials said they expect the blaze to be fully contained sometime Monday evening.

Fire officials released a sketch of a man they believe may possibly have information regarding the Martin Fire.

CAL FIRE officials would not say if officials think the man in the sketch is suspected of starting the fire. They would only say that officials want to talk to the person of interest.

Anyone who recognizes the person in the sketch is asked to contact the CAL FIRE Arson Hotline at 800-468-4408.

It's been a whole year, and it happened again.

Currently 4000 acres, 5% contained

I could swear we just did this.

Anyway, evacuated again

I am not far from the Lockheed fire,  for the last two days firefighters from all over have been pouring in.  I am next door to the CDF(calfire) station.

Next time there is a vote for funding fire protection, in your area, do the right thing and vote YES.
