6'6" and 270.  Was at 283 at the start of my academy last sept, dropped to 257, then gained some muscle mass back, up to 270 at the end of the academy.  :gap:  I'd like to lose a bit more, but I'm doing alright :gap:

Biggest joy for me was dropping 4 belt holes in my uniform belt from the beginning of the academy to the end, and I'm still there :woohoo:

So I weighed myself today for the first time since like last september maybe? I dunno, because we don't even have a scale at my house and the last time I was weighed was when I got my physical last year. I have lost weight, but I know I have gained fat, which means I must be losing muscle mass. I was 5'10" and 165#, but I am now 5'10" and 150#. I have been gaining fat since I quit riding my bicycle everywhere. I was a 29 inch waist last year, but now I am a 30 or 31. I eat a lot of food.

You all are pigs compared to when I MET MrW... at 5'-11" he weighed 116 lbs... yes.. you saw that right... not a typo... he wore a size 28 and they were big on him.... hes' grown some over the years... I'm Italian and a good cook.
He's now at about 150lbs and a size 34... at 5'-8" I'm about 20lbs overweight.
I'm going back to NJ for Christmas and so want to lose that. I'm going to start on a serious weight loss/exercise this week.

5'-11" at 230lbs is not a skinny ass! You weigh almost 100 lbs more than Mark at the same height.

I seriously think I could make up a lot of ground on my flab if I severely limited my computer time.  When I sit I snack, but if I stay busy doing something I don't snack AND I'll actually burn off some calories.  I have a hard time going outside at home because of the mosquitos, they're relentlous here!

I had to spend most my day helping move one of our docks the other day, which meant I pretty much sat in a boat and pushed or pulled with a boat, and I was snacking nearly the entire time.  Luckily it was only a small bag of chips and a bunch of strawberries!

Yup, it has more to do with BMI than weight. Muscle weighs more than fat so you can be perfectly fit and weigh more than the lard :moon: in line at Mickey D's biggie sizing his quadruple whopper.

:werd:

Even the BMI charts leave a lot to be desired as far as accuracy.  I think the most I can weigh and be "fit" according to the charts is 220 lbs.  I'd be scrawny if I weighed that much!

So got my wife a wii fit for her birthday and she got it in the mail today! Anyone played? Their fun, so my 24 year old wife is 36 in wii years and very unbalanced, but her weight is good. My 3 year old is 25 in wii years but it was his mom that helped him pass his age test! Now me

Yea im obese and need to loose weight but the good news I am 25 in wii years and 26 in human years!! go figure???

LOL
Just got my Wii fit last week and used it this weekend.
I'm 6'4" 255lbs and "Overweight" according to the Wiifit. Just barely below "Obese"
I did 2 hours (exercise time) on the Wiifit this weekend. Did all of the Yoga, Strength training, and balance games. (still can't beat the ball in the river though)

So far I like it, I'm curious to see if I get any results from it. The plan is to use it every day.

Overweight? Obese?

difficult concept to discuss, 'cause BMI, which is the best model we have right now is simply a mathmatical formula. It does not take into account muscle mass, bone density etc. There are studies that suggest that if a mans waist is greater than 40", he is at increased risk for diabetes, hypertension and coronary heart disease. For a woman it is down to 35".

You can go to: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

This will give you an idea of your "ideal weight". Remember, these numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt, because it cannot take into account individual variabily. It is a good idea to strive for as close to a target BMI as possible. BMI is just one piece to the puzzle.

True... Problem is to acuratly calculate that you have to go into a water tank to measure buoyency, then use calipers to measure fat, and it's a royal PITA. Most people are not willing to undergo all that, and most insurance companies would not pay for it. Therefore we have the BMI, which is the easiest way to "estimate". That does not mean it is the most accurate. It has however been studied by many people meny different times, and the results are repeatable, which of course means that there is some validity to the process. Again, it does not take into account individual cases.
