We've been looking for a while and I thought I would expand our options by posting it here... we're looking for a
SD-33 non turbo or turbo manual trans starter for a late 70s early 80 scout II OR harvester.

Thanks Dan, you have been going above and beyond the call of doody. LOL
I know this was on our build thread but I figured I'd throw it in CCC just for giggles.

no, they cannot

We can buy a new one, I believe, but it's like $500 :yikes:
that's what we paid for the engine!

Mark is looking at using a 24V starter used on the forklifts, which would be benificial for the onboard welder, but he'd have to be able to step it down to run all the 12V stuff.

thats just some simple wiring,  i think it would work great  with the 24v starter

as a matter of fact, i think the LBC  might be a 24 volt starter :headscratch:

i know  alot of bigrigs  use 24volts to start, then run off 12

This is what I found. Genco p/n 16909. Amp ( the starters we sell) dosen't make one :dunno:I called our supplier and the Genco P/N is good but they don't stock it, it runs about 300 bones. Do you guys have one? It could be rebuilt. They is a place in Tucson that does that. Just a thought. :beerchug:

So I talked to a buddy with a scoutII running a SD-33 today.. We had a nice long chat about your builds and what all you had done etc.  ANd that you were having serious issues locating a starter.....

Well he just got back to me with the info that will net you a starter pretty much guaranteed.  He said the last one he bought from Coonrods was $90 and he has several sitting on the shelf.  So consider this your early birthday present or something of the sort.

This is the link to Diesel Forum on BinderBulletin. Plenty of good info here and people to help.
