How early are we talking about Friday morning?  6 am, 9 am or 11 am?  :dunno:

I should be close, but it could take several hours for half the trucks to leave the staging area so it may not matter if I'm a little later.

We will probably be leaving Loon somewhere between 7am and 8am. I know Marlin will want to get an early start.

We strongly urge everyone to be at the Springs campground by Friday night for the following two reasons:
1) So you can participate in all the Saturday day events

2) So their will be far less trail congestion for those who have no choice but to come in on Saturday

Hello All,

I really want to make this roundup, but I have some concerns. :conf:

#1 My experience level is minimal at best. I have never really been on a tough trail and I definitely don't want to be the one clogging up the trail for everyone else. :smack:

#2 My rig is mostly daily driven and I will have to drive it 5 hours to get there, will it survive if it is driven cautiously and of course I would be using the bypasses?

I guess those are my two biggest questions/concerns.

My rig is an 1984 Toyota 4runner running 33" bfg mud terrain tires, Marlin installed 488 gearing & ARB lockers front and rear, rebuilt motor, Marlin transmission and a rebuilt Marlin geared 4.7 T-case.  I have rock sliders but not much else for protection.

Anyway, I would like some input from those of you that know the con.

Thanks
Mike.

Sounds great!

I will be coming from Lancaster CA,  about 50 miles north of LA.  I will stay in touch and let you know if I will make it.

Thanks
Mike.

Looks like I am not going to make it, which really bums me out :rivers:.  I have poured so much money into this truck making it trail worthy (Thanks Marlin!) I have none left for the trip :dunno: Anyway hopefully next year I will get to go and actually spend some money on wheeling. :driving:

Since at this point, it looks like I will be flying solo (rig wise), I was wondering if there is anyone meeting up near Georgetown or Auburn on Friday morning. As in are there any areas where people are meeting up to head out together? I would rather cruise in with a group since I don't think any of my friends can make it.

bd, we're hoping to be hitting the trail by 8:30..... it all depends on how quick we can get up there (leaving sac around 6:15am, unless everyone goin with us decides to go earlier, I'm down!).  If we can just take the rigs off the trailer and go, that'll be good good good good! But I know some folks gotta air down and stuff too... I'm just hoping to be as prepared as possible before the rigs are even loaded on the trailer.

The past two years, we've had some big time hold ups in the first 2 hours which meant by the time we got past the trailhead/gatekeeper it was around 11am.  This year, I'm hoping to make way better time.  I will be going all the way through to the springs on Friday, as will I'm hoping, the rest of our group.

fortysixandtwo... what time are you hitting the trailhead?  Meet us at the trail head at 8am and roll with us

Okay well I am a little confused on who considers what the trailhead. Are you guys meeting at the Georgetown trailhead, or the Loon lake trailhead?

Oh okay, I just wasn't sure. The map MC sent me with my reg stuff showed "Traditional Trailhead" at Georgetown and Loon Lake. I kinda figured Loon Lake but wanted to be certain. I will most likely meet up with you guys at Loon Lake then. I will let you know what we end up doing. Thanks for letting me tag along! :gap:
