Well my lab chance was put down yesterday.  :rivers: He was about 12 years old.  He had a bad leg, bad hips, they think he had cancer.  He would not eat anymore or drink.   He was very good with my daughter ever since she was a baby.  He will be missed by my whole family. Darn animals are sometimes closer than family.  He has been there for some pretty rough (ruff) times that we have been thru in the recent years.   :beerchug:

BLACKDOG

:rivers:  RIP Chance.  You were an awesome dog, for the short time that I knew you!!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

:therethere:  Dang, dude, sorry to here about your little buddy  :sad2:. Makes me  :rivers: just thinking about my last dog.  Hope all is well for your daughter . She must be taking this hard as well.

Putting them down is worse I think since you always seem to have second thoughts on whether or not you're doing the right thing.  But rest assured you did do the right thing by your companion.  I feel your pain Bro...know it all to well. Hope all will be well soon enough. Take care. Later!

I have experienced your pain.  I was about 18 when my parents had to have the family dog put down.  I don't know whats worse though, that or what happened to me a few years ago.  I came home from work one day and my Akita that I had for 9 years was missing from the yard.  I have never seen her since.  I'd like to think that some family has/had her and at least loves her as much as I did but I can't help but think of all the bad things that could have happened to her too.  I still catch myself looking through petfinder every now and then hoping she'll pop up in a shelter or something but I know the odds are astronomical.  By now she would have probably succomed to old age anyway but I still hope.

Sorry for hijacking your thread BLINGN but it your story brings back memories both good and bad.  I'm gonna go look through petfinder once again.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Lady Di

Wow! I should not have looked at this thread at work!

I am so sorry Blingn! It is never easy when your beloved pets time has come, but he had a good life and he was loved. There is nothing like the unconditional love of your pet, even when they hack up half eaten lizards on the carpet.

My condolences :smooch:

Life is like a bowl of beer flavored chocolate covered dog turds.. it makes no sense. :pokinit:
