??? Doubler for automatic ???
« on: Apr 24, 2008, 08:40:28 PM »
:help:..  I read an old post that I can't find now from Big Mike that said Marlin Crawler offered a doubler that could be mated to an auto trans.. I have an 85 x-cab w/ 5.29's, detroit's f/r,..38.5 swampers.. hi steer, Bobby's axles & hub gears 4in Marlin trailflex 3 in body..The dual ultimate & 5-speed are the next missing piece's but I cant afford to do everything this year.. I could live w/ the auto for another year if I could get geared low enough does anyone know if Marlin offers anything like this I don't want to go inchworm ??? Thank's..
It's A work in progress but it'll get there..slow and low im breakin er in easy...oh btw stock birfs suck!!!!

You need to check if you're t-case and trans are one piece or two then you can check you're options.

well if you have an auto out of an old 85-86 pickup for any pickup from 89-95 with lock out hubs you have the a340F which is what this product works with...if you have the 4runner auto(a340H) you cant use this as the xfer case is intergrated with the trans

This is the only one I know of at this time

http://www.inchwormgear.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=86

Tallchevy350 is pointing you to the right place....you have the "integrated" transfer case so this is the ticket. Some transmission dis-assembly required I understand. The chain driven case is useless and gets thrown out.

My preference would be to get 2 stock 2.28 gear driven transfer cases and one in-between adapter. Low-Low would be 5.2 reduction. Your chain driven case is 2.6 reduction.

Thank's for all the input guy's but I suppose if I gotta spend the $$$$ I should save and do it right the first time  instead of spending on a temporary fix thanks again...

If you wan't to run an auto trans you're best bet is a 95 t-100 trans like mine shift link on the right and correct speed sensor . T-case is seperate and marlins 3.0 adapter and a gear t-case is all you need. :burnout:

Nothing wrong reworking an intergreated t-case except i have about 1200 in my set up can climb steeps with no fluid loss where with the inchworm you do.There's a write up in toyota owners about it and they lost the tranny after trying long steeps. But i got lucky when i found mine marlin told me wich one i wanted but it's rare and when i found it the parts yard didn't know anything about it. : :bling: :bolt:
