I know if you need to replace your tank skid plate.  I haven't even hit mine yet.  Here are a couple photos of my dif protector i made out of 1x1 square.  But i have to use a vise grip to get the fill plug off and on.

I've crunched my stock gas tank skid a few times, so finally I made my own.  I just hammered the stock one back into shape to use as a template, and then made a new one form 10g steel with 1"x1" square as a frame on the inside and up to the mounts.  I made new mounts of 1/4" steel angle.  Sorry no pics but it looks just like the factory on except heavier duty.

I tooka a 8 inch piece of pipe and cut 2 inches off of it ,  then ripped it down he middle and trimmed it so it wold fit snug over the ring gear part of the diff  :flamer:

Here is a gas tank skidpllate I built using 3/16" sheet and 2X2" 3/16" angle. I was able to jack my 4Runner up with it. It attached using the stock skidplate bolts. Weight about 50 pounds. I don't know  the dimensions and the computer I had the CAd file on went corrupt.
