the mc is a stock aisin, its larger than stock on the trucks

Replacement master cylinder for older Pickup's and 4Runners with smaller bore (bore size is cast into right side of housing). Fits 1979-1995 Pickup/4Runner. Features 1" piston and residual valves for both front and rear. Works with both drum and disc brakes.  Bolt on installation. Includes reservoir. On 1979-1985 Trucks and 4Runners the smaller factory bore works fine with stock, solid front rotors and 8" rear drums. If you upgrade the rear to larger 1986 and up, 10" drums and/or upgrade the front to a vented style caliper you will want to install a 1" bore master cylinder like this one for additional volume.

Upgrading your brakes without changing the master cylinder results in excess brake pedal travel. If you have upgraded your brakes on a  1979 to 1985 truck and now you have to push the peddle nearly to the floor, this master cylinder will make the peddle feel like it should.

if you have a 86 or newer truck i think you'll be happy from day one. i put one on a 79 and you really had to stand on it to make those little stock brakes work. i then installed some fj60/40 rotors and ifs calipers on the front and it works good. i think it's going to be perfect once i install my 90's rear axle with the bigger drums.

Sweeet!! Thanks Jimbo for the info, mines an 86 so it should be better! Sometimes I loose all my pedal pessure and have to pump the brakes really fast to get them going! There isn't any fluid leaking that I can tell though. Also, thanks rn37dd for the pics!!!

so if i use this cylinder i will have to hit the brakes really hard to get them to work i would think that this would give me more stopping power

Becuase thats what it is. The 1" master cylinder is off of an fj80, and it bolts right up to your booster.

as far as I know, the only toy thing with a 1" master is a fj80. It should be stamped somewhere, not always on the side. Last fj80 master i saw was stamped with a 1 below the reservoir.

look on the engine side of the master cylinder,  its cast into the side,  86 pickup  should be 13/16  or 7/8

i did it on my 85 last year when my Master cylinder went out. The brake petal is a little firm but not too much, its still great for driving (Not too firm where it becomes uncomfortable), and it will easily lock up my 33's. i would try and find the Fj80 master cylinder else where its probably cheaper, i think i got mine for $70 through my girlfriends shop. it bolts right up just make sure you bench blead it.
Nor Cal, just livin it & keepin it real
