It's on tonight at 7PM Pacific, so anyone going to bed at a reasonable hour (that would include me) won't have to tape it!   :yesnod:

Lady Di

Thanks Stocker!
It's on 10pm here. I have my DVR set to record the series (in HD no less) :woohoo:
I wish it were on at 9:00.
I know physically it's going to feel like 9:00 but if I don't get to bed at 10:00 waking up at what would have yesterday been 6:00 am is going to be HELL!

it's about loggers in the PNW.  one guy is missing most of one of his hands and said it was a minor injury.

Doof

IM STOKED ON IT, i cant wait to see it. i have to go to dinner on the first viewing

so i have to stay up till 11 to watch it...

i found out one of my great uncles died as a logger, got ran over by a CAT

*** YELLER ***

OH I AM SOOO WATCHING THIS SHOW    Ive seen some bad stuff as a former saftey director for the logging industry most accidents you can walk away from are minor. This is a 6" steam line from our boiler to the dry kilns that blew up last year, thankfuly no one was near it when it blew, turns out the 6" valve failed and well the rest is history.  :yikes:

Yup, I enjoyed that quite a bit!  Gonna try to catch as many episodes as I can.  I enjoyed Ice Road Truckers and Deadliest Catch, but logging is much closer to home.

You can go through life being scared of the possible, or you can have a little fun and tease the inevitable.

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!

Lady Di

They had an Ice Road Truckers marathon on Sat. that we watched all day.
I started watching Ax Men but fell asleep, but I have it recorded so I'll watch it tonight. Looks like it's going to be a great series.

:yesnod:   He doesn't do "logging" per se but he does commercial line maintenance and clearance for Penelec, so he's out in the woods all day trimming and cutting down trees with big gnarly equipment.  And then when big storms or hurricanes hit anywhere within several states of us he gets sent on "storm work" and cuts big trees off of the power lines and stuff.  He's already had one chipper accident and almost got pummeled by a tree just last week!  I think I'll send him to school to be a chiropracter.  That'll be a win-win situation for me!

OH yeah!  I forgot about this little incident:

Brian's boss was driving, and Brian had been hanging off the side of it but then had JUST moved into the railing area on top when their huge tank of herbicide shifted and they rolled 600 feet down the mountain.  Luckily Brian was able to jump off the back and just miss the huge winch smacking him in the head.  His boss road the whole thing out and got lifeflighted but he's OK.

Here's what it looked like before:

Might have been, those trucks are typically insulated -- though the phone cable (the heavier black one under the boom) is grounded, so there's always danger...

MrsPAtaco13, those are some interesting pics, thanks for posting!  Other than that first one, I'm most impressed by the one of Brian up that spindly little tree -- it doesn't look stout enough to safely climb.  Looks like maybe a birch, and their wood is too weak & brittle for me to trust that much!   :ack:

I just talked to Brian for his nightly check-in.

He said those power lines were indeed hot...they can't be shutting down a whole grid just to trim a few trees.  I have no idea what it means but he said it was just a "little" residential one that was  7,000   200 KV?

And yep that was a birch tree in my Dad's yard.  Brian says anything that is as big around as your wrist is strong enough to hold you.  I'm sure he didn't go up any farther than he was in the picture though, and he was tied in appropriately.

Glad you liked my pics!  I'm very proud of my hubby.  :wiggle:

I loved the show.  I love driving to a landing and watch the crews operate.

Just found out that my sister deals with all those outfits.  The company she works for does all the lowboy work for them.  And when you see the map, if you look to the road on the far left, that runs north south, thats labeled 101.  And you see the little blip that bumps in to the right, thats where I live.

I can be at the logging sites on the show in an hour.  :yesnod:
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!
