Right on, I love it!  Ive got a 2x converted to 4x aswell.  Much better than a generic sas, the frame is the same shape as the earlier 4x's and there is about half the crap to take off the frame.  Here's my thread.  I think the 3rd gen starts on the bottom of page 8  http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=2547.0
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

nice keep on going . the more i see these 2wd to 4wd conversions the more i like em. you can't buy a new light weight 4x4 these days. so building one just make sense.

cinder blocks?! at least stack some 4x4 chunks of wood together... way stronger than cinder blocks....

thanks. yea i had a 85 pickup before and it seems like there is just as much wrk involved so why not start with something cheaper. they just don't make trucks like they used to.

nope look at the last few pics real close full wrap is in front, and half wrap is in rear

I.D.G.A.F

What kind of springs? I have pro comp 4" springs on mine with the same angle,  I hope my new Marlin 5" will be better!

jthacker29

well i found out why my shackle angle is so far off i measured center off my front hanger to center of my frame tubes. it was 44 and a half. i figured that was pretty close since trail-gear says their spring measure 47. well when i measured my springs they were only 43 and a half. heres my sign. damn what was i thinkin.   that sucks. i have a buddy that is building a 4 runner that i think is gona buy my 3 inch so i hope the 4 inch measure close to 47.

Not much safety on something that'll crumble if you sneeze on them!

Are you measuring eye to eye on the springs, or along the spring like you're supposed to?

Trail Gear springs sag a lot. If you get taller springs you will be fine in the long run.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

The 5" are VERY flexy. Draw your own conclussion after looking at the picture. The 5th trail ride finished them off.

Wow those are TG springs?  I hope my new 5" marlin springs are tougher than those

kiyul4130

going from 43 to 47" should make that shackle angle sit right where it should be. good luck on the rest of this.
