1992 4Runner, New Build

So, As you may know... I sold my pickup, I just Picked up a 92 4Runner V6 Auto, Power everything, sun roof, And great interior, except a minor tear in the driver seat, I plan on building up axles to put under it while Driving it stock, then getting the lift kits and powder coating the springs an offset color, thinkin orange and painting the body black.. also pondering a 3.4 Swap, but want to stay auto for street driveabilty, Picked it up with a clean body, and no mechinical problems so far.. Knock on wood..  Well let me know what you think, my last truck, went from looking like it was never going to happen to Being done, and i got sick of it really quick, i plan on taking my time and making it more of a looker that can wheel than strickly a wheeler..

I only hate mine cause two weeks after I bought the truck I found out it had major problems, that the guy failed to inform me about, but its all good, i wanted the auto and now im just lookin for the simplicity of a manuel trans and a 3.4 taco motor..

mine used to look like that as well...


i swapped out the auto for a R150 last spring and couldn't be happier. it still has the 3.0L, but it was a HUGE improvement nonetheless. good luck with the build.

not at all. hardest part was fishing the pedal assembly in. just be sure you have everything from the donor vehicle... tracking down random bolts and brackets is a PITA. if you have any questions on the swap in particular, shoot me a PM.

OOps... UPDATE!!! Sold this Runner, got out of wheeling, bought it back and stocked parts for 2 years, now its a sased manuel 3.4 Beast with brand new axles hub to hub with dual cases that are ready to be installed now that she passed the reff.... Just thought id say somthing to the nice people who responded to the thread even when i got out of the game.Hope you like.

Also, Im going to the police academy in a few months other wise id have a fully rebuilt marlin trans in it too.. but it will still come, just may take a while..

What springs u running?

I am running Trail Gear 5"HD Springs, and 5" Rear springs, and it has Hub to Hub front and rear axles that probably lift it a little from the offset tubes. in those pictures it only has 33" Tires but it will be getting 37s when i get out of the Police academy.

 It'll settle just curios thanks i've always ran marlins but gotta find new co. since they dont carry springs anymore

I think there the same manufacturer

Yes they will settle, and also they are alot softer than most. But thats how i like them.

And they are not made by the same manufacturer as the Marlin Springs were. 6 Years ago that may have been the case but not anymore.
