Has anybody used one of these?  It's cheap enough I may just take the chance if I sell enough parts soon enough:  http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=91811

haven't used one, but i've seen it in person  (i feel dirty just saying that) and it is tiny.  I'd be worried about cooking it.  I saw the duty cycle rating, which surprises me, but I don't know...

buy it and let us know.

if its a clark, id recomend giving me half your money and we can go outside and i'll kik u in the nutz, then u can call it a day, ive had 2 of thier welders, a mig and stick, and they both ended up in the trash in pieces

kneedownnate

Yea, I went in and checked one out the other day and they're super small!  I was kinda :headscratch: at the duty cycle too, but you never know.  I don't know if it's a rebadged clarke or not, but it has chicago electric all over it.  I would have asked an employee about it, but I'd probably get better feedback if I went in the back alley and asked the bum instead.

Think of it as an investment. not just throwing money away like the one you speak of.

Mark, if I could afford one of those I wouldn't have started this thread  :slap:  I wish I had the money to buy any welder I wanted, but I just don't make enough money.  I have to search for bargains and hope they work for a little while.  And yes, I've been watching craigslist for a used one for quite some time :gap:

There JUNK save your money and get a good unit  :beerchug:

I can't save   If I don't spend the $200 on that I'll just buy something I need for the truck or put it toward bills.

On a related note, sort of, we're going to have a matco truck coming to work to compete with the mac truck :beerchug:  Can't wait to see what kinda deals he pulls comparatively, and I'm hoping he's a little more energetic about getting you what you want, even if it is just a dang beanie :shake:

:beerchug: Just send me the $$$ and Ill hold it for you  Ill even send you a hat  :hahaha:

kneedownnate

:haha:  I was almost thinking about buying a hat too, but I'd feel kinda like a tool wearing it since I don't have any matco stuff yet :dunno:  I'll try holding onto the money by leaving it in my paypal account for a while, but I'll definately end up buying something with it anyway.

Why don't you just put it in my Pay Pal account, then you can't spend it.

It actually has a pretty decent duty cycle of 35%.  I think that's better than my hobart.

Tell you what mark, you send me your tig machine and I'll put the money in your paypal acct.....

I have the Maxstar® 150 STH, it has 150 amp output at 100% duty cycle.

I used it to weld up a good portion of the exo and it will go non stop till you can't hold the torch anymore.

Tools are a source of income, don't cheap out unless you only plan to look at it.
