shock suggestions 4 lifted toyota?
« on: Feb 07, 2008, 05:44:42 AM »
Guys I put a 4 inch stage 2 lift on my 92 toyota exc. I put the es3000 shocks from pro comp on it from the kit. That thing rides like a tank, can I get a better ride with the mx6 shocks from pro comp? Any suggestions on a smooth as possible riding shock setup pro comp or not would be greatly appreciated.

Ive had the es3000 shocks that came with the kit for a year now, rides good after everything settled down...are you running blocks or springs in the back? I put 4" superlift springs in the back and it improved the ride a little, As for the mx6 shocks their a little overkill for me... i heard good stuff about skyjacker soft ride shocks like Angler said...

I'm running ProComp ES9000's and they are not even close to rough. I'm thinking it is your stiff ass springs giving you the problem.

i ran procomp es3000 on my 2wd... they were way better than what it had.... your problem is probably not your shocks, but the stiff springs

Its the lift.  You need to let everything settle and break in.  What are you running in the rear? lift springs or blocks?

Leaf springs are the ride, shocks only minimize the bounce of the ride  :smack: :phone:

Blocks won't make it ride stiff cause your still using the stock spring. The front suspension is whats stiff. Do you have the torsion bars cranked up all the way?

blocks just put more leverage on your springs resulting in more axlewrap

There really isnt such a thing as a 3-4" lift kit that rides nice and keeps the stock spring locations.

In order to ride nice and have more than 2 inches of lift you really need to run longer than stock springs...

at least thats my opinion FWIW

Agreed, My dads 95 4Runner runs ProComp ES9000s and it rides really nice.
Its that 4in off the shelf lift kit thats making it ride like a tank, those kits arent made to be flexy, trail friendly really or to ride like a caddy.
they are mearly to clear larger tires... for that :bling: status.

I say SAS,
take that stage II out and do a custom lift with... BJ spacers, Cranked torsions and a 3in marlin pack for the back.

you wont get a nice ride out of that IFS lift from procomp.... IMO that is

marlin doesnt make a 3 inch lift....all of marlins spring packs require re-location of the spring hangars as well

Quit bringing up SUPERSTIFFS those will never help. SAS with some flexy springs from marlin or comparison is your only way to acheive a softer ride. It has nothing to do with shocks either.
