I have a 97 4runner and I'm either selling it and buying a Dodge with a Cummins or I'm building it with a Waggy Dana 44 (I really don't want to give up the Runner though). So those are my thoughts, but my question is, what is the cheapest, way to go about this? Its a drivers side drop case with an auto and a 3rz with 198,000 kms.

Heres a couple pics of it after the rebuild.

The 4Runner isn't in the best shape anymore and I really don't like the auto either. Yea, I want to get a Cummins so I can tow my 89 Runner. But the thing is, I have a cummins with a tranny and t-case sitting in my yard so I was just thinking of getting any full size and drop in the cummins.
The original plan was to put the cummins in the 89 4Runner though, But I may just put a gasser in it since its trail only.

Build it and run it with the auto, I loved my auto.

Same here. I plan to eventually swap out my a340h for a jeep aw4 soon though. It's pretty much a direct swap and gives you the option of running an atlas or Dana 300 as a bolt on without using adapters.

Nice! Thanks for the tranny info KWP. I'm gonna have to dig a little deeper though and see what else I need to do.
I've already done 5 axle swaps so I have a good idea on the procedure, But I'm just undecided so far... I think I want to keep the runner though, its a nice truck.
