Noob check...

My names Glenn and I am from Washington. I've been checking out this forum for quite a while and decided finally to join. My truck is a Toyota axled 1980 Chevy Luv with a Buick 231 V6, T350 tranny with a married ?transfer case.  The truck was built for mud but I have been wanting to make it more trail-able just havent had the time or funds to do it yet. I figured this was the best place to get the info I need seeing as how I am relatively new to the 4x4 scene.  You guys definitely seem to know your stuff around here!

Here are a couple pics from a few years back when I had 38.5s on it. It now has 36s.

*There... bigger pics.

In the gallery under cool and unusual crawlers there were a couple pics posted of a tan exo'd LUV on unimogs... something along those lines only keeping the yota axles of course.  First thing I need to do though is rework the stiff a$$ suspension so it can flex more and figure out something for steering assist. Would like to bob the bed. I really dont know anything about transfer cases and third-members but I would sure like something low geared and locked up for crawling through tight technical trails.  Right now this truck doesnt flex or turn worth a damn.

Nice truck! do you have any larger pictures? I love the old Luvs you dont see those built very often. There is a guy around my town that has a ford courier with a toyota 22re and running gear with an exo and some 39s. its bad ass

I dont know what transfer case gearing options you have for your current tcase but do you know what gears you have in your axles? you could throw some 5.29s in there to get some more power out of your motor. marlin sells some great flexy springs or if you want a cheap route jeep wagoneer 44044s and 63" chevy rear springs are a cheap flexy set up

A little update... I got to surfing around trying to identify my transfer case and it is a toyota transfer case which sparked the memory of being told by one of the previous owners that it was a toy t-case with an adapter from Advanced Adapters to marry it to the T-350 tranny... if that sounds right. That should open up some options for dual cases and whatnot.

Well that is good news! that means you can pop in some  :turtle: 4.7 case gears. that will really help you out on the trail.
