Hey I'm seriously considering this dual case option.  Just went and looked at a used one.  It looked to me like the shifter for the t-case is a part of the tranny assmebly?  But I also noticed a cover plate on the t-case?  Is this where the shifter is re-located?  I'm confused  :smack:

And what is a good price for a used t-case?  This particular guy wanted $250, my concern was the funky white pasty oil that ran out when we turned it over - kinda like it had been run through the water with bad seals  :shake_head:

Any help would be appreciatted.

250 is a good deal if the t-case is in good shape but im kinda scetchy about the white goo that came out

250 is waaayy more than i'd pay for a stocker case.  i bought a forward shift case for $25 about 6 months ago.  top shift ones(what you want for the rear case in a dual setup) typically go $75-150

o crap i was thinking of trannys :smack:

Kyle is this what you're talking about when you say a "top shift"?

Do I take the shifter from the tranny mount and just stick it where the cover plate is at?  Do I need some adapter etc.

If you changed it to top shift you need a plate to cover the hole on the tranny.  I made my own plate out of some tin and drilled 4 holes to match the other holes.  I then put ultra gray on it to keep it from leaking, it has worked great so far.

I just went thru all this recently.

If you have a remote shift t-case( the trans and t-case shifters are on the trans) use that for the forward reduction unit and get a 86=94 EFI EFI t-case ) t-case for the rear(complete)t-case. You just use the original t-case shifter( it only controls the reduction unit in front of adapter) in the original location . Hopefully the added case(EFI t-case) has a top-mount shifter. If not the guys at Marlin can get what you need.

If you have 2 remote shifted cases( w/ cover plate), the shifter it self will work on the rear case BUT must be converted to a top-shift. It will require a different base.Available at Marlins.

You can get t-cases for $150 off the NET but its sight-unseen/no guarrantee. I paid $250 at a local junkyard, but spent 20 minutes playing w/ it before paying and feel confident  its good.

I was looking for awhile to do the duel case thing, seems to run from 75 to around 125 for a used case or gear box.  I do think duels are the way to go over just low gears, more choses. I'd forget the one with "stuff" ozing out of it. :shake_head:  there are others out there if you look. don't buy somthing your wish you had not of latter.

hey yotabay79, another viky and beer plz  :beerchug:
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

If you buy a complete setup from Marlin he charges $150 for a t-case core so theres another option

Okay if I got this right it sounds like the t-case I looked at is called a remote shifter, but that's really okay because Marlin can set me up with an adapter or something, but if I have my drothers (whatever that means) I should pick one up with a top shifter.

Is there anything changed with the big dorky factory crossmember and mount for the t-case? or the speedo cable?

You can use the original x-member  and my cable worked just fine.

Try to find one for $100 is possible.

I would check http://www.car-parts.com first.

Hey thanks for the education and the parts link, it definitely helped.  Hope to be calling Marlin soon and placing the order for my adapter.
