:yikes: Holy carp! The slabs are scary enough without snow and ice! And even trying to navigate the granite bowl without seeing the oil slicks? But I would love to see pictures if anyone did go.

i heard that place is so hard wheel with a decent amount of snow. you would want atleast dual cases and gears silly.

Every trip I have seen photos from where people hit the Con during the snow season showed a lot of carnage. basically if you arent dualed up, locked up and willing to take on some serious carnage i wouldnt do it. also if you have never been there or only been there once or twice it might get confusing like ramrod said

I will let you know though sillywilly a couple of my friend and I are planning a trip for after the snow melts, only have a couple rigs so far

Early spring snow runs are rather tricky, you can have slushy conditions where you break through the crust, poor traction for steep climbs in the afternoon, and icy conditions early in the morning.  You would be better off goingthis month, Feb, or in by mid-March, or later after a good storm, or with expected snowfall durring the run.

How much trail time have you logged in the High Lakes area?  The High Lakes will offer you quite the training ground for snow wheeling.  The road alone can be quite hazardous in early/late spring with off camber eareas from snow melt, w/o the steep drop offs that the Rubicon has.

Also w/the Rubicon, the county closes the trail once the snow melts enough that portions of the trail is exposed, to prevent trail damage and contamination from the runoff.  Irf you are looking for an area to run other than the HL, you might consider the Eagle lakes side of the Fordyce creek trail.
