I have 4 4.88 3rds..3 4cyl and 1 -v6
2- 4 cyl 3rds $350 exchange
1 -4 cyl and 1- v6 $400 exchange
diamond springs,ca

Hey, is your 488 v6 a factory or an aftermarket 488? just wondering cuz I know the factory one you cannot regear?

yes you can. it is jsut offset... people here have done it

what do you have to do? put a shim behind the ring gear? doesnt sound like fun to me, especially if you are planning on putting in an LSD

i think your right you have to make a spacer if the 4.88's are stock thats what I want to run anyway.

I would kinda wonder if the 4.88 housing would be good for an LSD and aftermarket 5.29s to have centered bearings and such..... who knows....maybe a longshot....

they are all aftermarket..I will check to see if I can tell brand dont know who set them up..but I did look real close at the condition and I would run them..

no markings on the v6 3rd but the pinion is off set so im as sure thats its not a factory 4.88 3rd. the rest will be checked tomorrow

no worries ...no one is beating my door down for them...I even found a used lockrite for a v6..just needs new pins..

You should be able to regear the factory 4.88 3rds you just have to get a carrier from a 3rd w/ 4.10's

I thought the housing is what is different on a factory 4.88, everything else is the same (except for the ring gear of course).
