2000 Toyota HiLux 3rz-fe
« on: Dec 20, 2007, 07:24:53 PM »
I am in Japan and believe it or not, they don't have this model engine over here. I've had the Alpine supercharger installed along with a K&N filter kit, headers, free flowing cat and free flowing mufler. My problems have been many. But as of now, I have removed the fifth injector and finally the piggyback computer. My latest problem is that I'm running very rich on fuel. Plugs start fouling out after about three to four days.

The mechanic who installed my s/c is no longer here and I'm not sure how the vacuum lines should be run. Toyota here can't even get a service manual for my truck/engine (which I think came from Australia).

Can anyone advise me on the vacuum routing?

Vacuum lines for the Supercharger bypass valve or for the engine management?

I will tell you right now you best bet is to find a Dyno tuner in Japan (shouldn't be a problem) and get it tuned with a different computer, like a Greddy E-Manage system. If you don't want to do this, then I highly recommend removing the supercharger and just learn to live with normal aspiration.

I am still waiting for a TRD product to please me.

So far all the shops I've taken it to have been unable to find me a computer that will work with this. I'll have to check out that Greddy system. Thanks for the tip on that.

The vacuum lines in question are for the power steering and the fuel pressure regulator. I have been told by John Conchie that I finally have the bypass valve to the correct vacuum port.

Again, thanks for the answers.

i agree with mike, when dealing with forced induction, stock ecm's just cannot keep up.

a greddy management system is fantastic, i personally have owned one, and it took a car that i couldnt drive, and turned it into a 12 second car that got 27 mpg hwy.

there are alternatives to engine managment, but as mike stated, NATURAL ASPIRATION IS THE MOST COMMON

I've seen that vacuum diagram before. That's not me. No EGR here in Japan (at least not my year model).

I believe that I've hit upon my solution. I can't find a pinout of the ecu so I'm going to make my own. I read somewhere this week that the stock ecu does exactly what mine is doing in the presence of a supercharger/turbo. It loads up on the fuel. Once I get the ecu pinout done I believe I'll retry the unichip that came with my s/c kit. First I'll check the wiring to see if it was connected to the right wires. IF it was, then I'll go with the greddy system.

Thanks all for the replies.
