It all depends on the driver.  Iroks, SX's, MTR's all do great on 2-4 PSI.
OFRD_GRL – as much as i appreciate strip clubs, i could never date a chic. they are all flopin crazy.

i loved my iroks in soft snow when they where new but now that the lugs are rounded off there not doing as good at gripping some of the harder packed stuff but they still do great in the soft stuff, my old cut sx's did realy good on hard packed and ice and almost as good as the iroks in the powder a friend of mine is running cut and studded 35x16x15 boggers and they seem to hook up realy good but they dont float as good in the powder and the lateral traction isnt very good, and the pitbull rockers seem to do pritty good in most snow conditions as well especialy the powder from what ive seen, id stick with an irok or a tsl sx but thats me  :beerchug:

I blew a bead on 35 bfg mudds at 9.5 psi... i dont think they did that well actually.  You either have to have a real skinny tall tire or a really wide tall tire.   To pack or to float that is the argument indeed

id say iroks are my favorite, when they were brand new they dug in alot and got me stuck a couple times but after they started to wear they wheeled better cuz i wouldnt sink. I went down to 3 psi and they bagged out real nice and i was able to go anywhere.......

Have ya tried flipping your irocs around backwards? You would be making the outer lugs into more of a grabbing edge for the hard frozen stuff, and the softer snow might get pulled to the center to help you stay on top.

I don't have experiance with snow but in the soft sand my irocs work best in the standard direction, as they will dig , and pull. With them turned around backwards I loose out on the really soft stuff couse all the soft sand gets pulled to the center of the tire. It just might work in snow though as snow tends to stick to itself.
Hug your kids, pray for a soldier, and don't sweat the small stuff.

Haven't got new tires to test out after my lift.  Before the lift I had a cheap set of 30X9.50R15 Dominator A/S.  Don't laugh but I never got stuck or lost control.  I would think that any tire that has more tread voids the better.  My brother had a set of 31X10.50 BFG At's and they did great!

Then again it depends on how deep and what kind of snow as well as a ton of other factors.  As for the packed crap on the roads the above mentioned tires faired well.

ive got the 30x9.50 BFG MTs and i love them.... almost worn out tho!! ive had the best luck with tall skinny tires due to the fact that you have more pounds per square inch so they tend to dig and bite better.... but if you are going the floating method the wider the better!!!!

My BFG MTs are excellent.  But I am running stock size as well, so they are very much on the thin and tall side of the equation(they dig in very well).

30x9.5 is one size larger than stock, IIRC, so it's about the same.

Of course, this is mostly for snow on roads and places with 4-8 inches of it and something hard underneath.  (digging down works).  Out in a field with 2-3 feet of snow, floating is better.

BFG MT are very good, Here in alaska guys take them and have them siped an they really do good on the ice, I have swamper tsl on my jeep and they do pretty good but they get really bad flat spots because they are bias ply.

As mentioned above it really depends on what type of snow driving you plan to do.

If you are talking about icy snowpacked roads it is hard to beat BFG ATs.  I live in Utah mountains and run BFG ATs religiously on the family SUV.  You'd have a hard time finding a better tire for that application.

On the other hand for taking my Toyota out in the deep stuff I'm running 38.5 SXs and they go through the deep like mad.  I'm sure it helps that I'm running a V8 but I can't imagine a lesser tire ripping through the "FOOFOO" powder like these babies do.  They sure flatspot at night but it goes away after driving a bit.

i recommend siping all tires that will come in contact with snow/ice, i siped my iroks and they were like night and day on ice
