which engine is this?

almost sound like you were tuning it, and knocked a hose off, or advanced/retarded the timing accidentally

22r engine and we checked all the hoses and we did retard the timing on purpose but we turned it back to normal after this happened

If you also gave a year it would help. They make subtle changes from year to year which might make a difference in helping diagnosing the problem.

the idle solenoid is on the side of the carburetor. it well have 1 or 2 wires running to it.  depending on year and model.

yeah if it's on the carb , thats it.     it shuts the fuel off to the idle circuit when you turn the key off .. and in some it shuts down the idle passage a higher rpm also. just something to check.  I'd also check your idle adjustment screw. and check your egr.
