LC Pro Distributor timing problems
« on: Dec 09, 2007, 11:35:50 AM »
I searched the forums but I wasn't able to find much help for this one...
Last night I installed LC's pro distributor with vacuum advance for the 22r.  the best I could get the timing was about 16 BTDC at around 1,100 RPMs. I test drove it, and the engine makes a clacking noise at low rpms as if  the distributor is out a tooth. I reinstalled it a tooth back, and the engine wouldn't start. So I reinstalled it again a tooth forward from the first time, and the engine runs weak, and the timing is at about 3 degrees past TDC, not the 8 to 12 before TDC, which is where its supposed to be with this distributor. I already have an LC adjustable cam gear installed at about 5 degrees advanced, and I'm wondering if that could be a problem.
Any help would be great, thanks

Not sure why anyone would run aftermarket electronic equipment. You're asking for nothing but trouble.

I believe lots of people run after market electronics without problems.  How many people on here have MSD?

The Instructions that come with the distributor are different than the timing instructions on the LC website. According to the tech article on their site the rotor is supposed to point to the #1 spark plug wire before before installation. I'm gonna try this tonight

If that doesn't work Junior, call John in the tech department at LC.
