looks good manbut you should have cutholes in the bumper brackets and ran the pipe through it rather then set it on top. im guessing one good bump and that thing will bend or break right off.
couldnt run the pipe through the brackets because that would put it too low. pipe is now sitting about 3" down in the c-channel instead of where its at in those pics. i was having to trim it down little by little to get it to sit how i wanted. far from done though, still have to get the plate steel i need and make the grill guard setup. the grill guard center section will go over the pipe, trust me it wont go anywhere by the time i'm done setting up the bumper haha.

People often ask how they stack crap so tall....

no offense taken, you've never met him before and i've never mentioned it so no worries. he can walk just runs out of energy real fast, had polio when he was a kid.

i'll keep gettin pics up, i wont get the bumper how i want before i leave for Texas but i'll get as much done as i can. gonna run into the same problem with the rear bumper, not enough plate steel available.

got some plate steel over the pipe to make sure it doesnt go anywhere should the welds break, brush guard will go over it as well

haha almost matches the current color  . wierd thing is besides the front fenders i dont have much rust at all, actually significantly less than my old 4runner did.

got to test the bumper today offroad, more solid than a rock and surprisingly i hit less stuff with the front bumper than i did with the stock one.

finished? FAR from finished but i'm at a stopping point for a couple months, need to repair the trailers for my dad before i ship for boot camp march 5th but the bumper is solid enough to use right now. heres a couple pics from yesturday, hit the bumper ALOT less than i did with the stock one.

little shot of the blazer goin up a hill, not flexed out but isnt bad at all for the stock push/pull steering setup.
http://www.utah4x4club.com/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=3401

knocked it on a couple rocks pretty hard, hung the front end on it, and smashed it about 8" deep into some mud with no problems besides having to dig the license plate out of the mud  . also hooked up a towstrap to the front bumper (wrapped around) connected to the fj cruiser that was stuck, no issues pulling him back onto the trail. winch got him most of the way back onto the trail, i had to swing him around and get the back tires on the trail. so not finished, need to make a grill guard and get some plate steel for the top/ends/bottom but its far enough for now.

for the bumper or blazer?
front bumper:
grill guard assembly similar to a "ranch hand" front end replacement, will use 1/4" thick there as well. will also have headlight wrap arounds made from 1" diameter pipe. plate angled at probably 45 degrees on the underside a few inches long that will angle up towards the outside edges. outside edge plate will stick down about 2" below the pipe and will go back to the front of the wheel wells. a quick connect for an airline will be attatched on the inside edge of the pipe under a top piece of plate (serve as a deck, stepping place and cover for a winch at a later date) and use the bumpers as an air tank.

rear bumper-use the same size pipe in the rear, 3 1/2" 5/16" thick with a center section 16-18"wide for the license plate and trailer hookups. kinda built like ------\__/------ with a swing out spare tire, jerry can, and water jug carrier.

after the bumpers are done i'll pull the body off the frame, patch the floorboards, bedline the underside of the body as well as the frame, box it, then reinstall the body and get ready to paint it. that wont happen for a couple months though, will hopefully get started on it in june once i'm done with boot camp and shipped to my job training down in florida. i'll upgrade the suspension at that time to a 4-5" lift by installing rear springs up front and doing a shackle flip in the rear with 63" springs. lots more to do after that but starts getting expensive haha.

for the next couple months at least the blazer is on hold. i'm about 2/3rds of the way through with fixing my dad's trailer, putting new sides and suspension on it. i'll probably get the pipe cut for the rear bumper but that will be it. earliest i'll get back to the blazer is late may when i finish basic.

well i'm down in pensicola florida now for tech school with the air force, working on becoming a member of the EOD team, explosive ordinance disposal, hard school and task to do but very rewarding. blazer is still up in utah, parents are gonna try to sell it since it would be cheaper/easier to start over with something else down here.

good pete its all good, later on this week i'll be able to leave the base :woohoo: , probably gonna head to the beach this weekend :eyebrows: so that should be fun! 2-3 weeks will get my motorcycle down here and have my own form of transportation, and should get my orders in the same time frame to find out where my 1st duty station will be (could be anywhere with my job). school is anywhere from 7 months to about a year and a half long, will spend some more time in the differant bomb suits.
