I was gonna ask if you have been poking around in my photobucket.  But it is a little bit different.  Mine's in focus and has better color. :ha_ha:

jedrattle

You guys are killing me!!!       I hope like hell it flexes better then that, after I the work I got going on!  :gap:

I chased a few more parts today. I decided to get Bobby Longs beadlocks. They were getting some good reviews so I went with it. I am waiting on some hiems for the steering. I should have both on tuesday.  :crossed:   I am having some link mounting issuses.  The lower link is wanting to hit the frame under compression (if I measured correctly).  :headscratch:    But the crappy part now... I am coming down with the flu.

I had a simular problem but it was my upper links hitting on compression so I notched the frame to follow the arm and then used a piece of heavy wall tubing cut in half and inserted into the frame and then welded it back up to give some room.  Im not sure if this is exactly the problem your having but Ill show ya a pic if it helps

I did it for my controll arms

And for my shocks to give a little extra room for the shocks.

Not sure if these help and if im not even close to what your talking about let me know  Ill delete them.
Life is too short!!!   Do something with it!!!

I had thought about it. It's probably the only real solution. It really depends on the amount of compression travel that I can actually get.

Why? Are you going to a fuel cell? :headscratch:

3 link with panhard or stock tank in the rear where the spare used to go. you will have to remove the stock cross member and extend the wires and fuel lines. Do you still have the W56 I threw in with the pick up? I will buy or trade for it.

No, I don't have that tranny anymore. I don't even remember it.  I wonder what happen to it? :headscratch:  I will keep an eye out for one.

What I want to do, is a dual triangle four link out back and get rid of that *%(^  gas tank.  It really is just a rock anchor!!  I would like to put a custom cell where the spare tire was from the factory. But I have been reading about the smog stuff and I will never get through the smog ref with one. I could do it after I get my little # from the ref. The stock tank is too long and too tall. I chopped up an `82 pickup today. The gas tank looks perfect size to put out back. I would have to modify it for the pump and the sender. I am a little nervous to weld on it. I could do a 3 link and leave it the tank in the stock spot but, my #'s for the suspension calculator give a me about 9 degrees of roll axis angle. I am not sure but that seems too high. Plus that gas tank is still dragging with this setup.  :dunno: I didn't have a tape measure with me today but I am going to check out the `82 tank tomorrow.

It looks like the `82 tank will work. I just have to modify it some. I can put it out back where the spare was.
I need to weld in the mounting ring for the fuel pump and it should be good. Anyone got any tips on welding on gas tanks?

I've got an extra 82 tank if you screw it up.  :flamer:

you can run exhaust from another vehicle with a tube into the tank, and let it run for like 5 minutes before you start welding.  some people fill them with water, but I like the exhaust method.

edit: be sure to keep the other vehicle running while you weld if you do the exhaust method.

jedrattle

 Thanks for the tip!!

Some of the parts I was waiting on, came in today. I was waiting on heim spacers for the steering. I am still waiting on left hand tube adapters.

Before.....tie rod above

Mounted like this it was going to hit the frame, so.....

I needed to do this.....

Heims!!

I think I can get the compression I am after...

Picked up some new wheels...

And some diy beadlocks from Bobby Long...

I only got a pair of them for now. I started welding them on tonight. A little more progress!! :egyptian:

$95 each that includes shipping, anticoning rings, and the hardware.

I am not worried about my welding, I am worried about being blown up. I read that soldering works better than welding because of the galvanized metal.

I am probably talking out my :moon: on this, but how about taking the gas tank to a radiator shop and have it "hot tanked"?  :headscratch: The end result is a perfectly clean gas tank without any explosive vapors. :dunno:

Hyena

the pump mounting ring wasn't galvanized on mine.  it welded just like regular uncoated steel.  might be stainless.  when i cut my old ring out i filled the tank with water.  then flashed the inside with the plasma a couple times to burn off any fumes.  worked pretty good.

jedrattle

  Thanks Hyena!

No progress right now.  :rivers:   I am doing a bunch of stuff I need to do. Fix my fence, haul off an old car, clean the garage and finally finish fixing my trailer ( which  I started in july!! :shake:). The fence and the trailer will be done tomorrow. I got a few more little parts I needed. I hope to do something on it next week. :crossed:............after TDS!!  :woohoo:

I have been having problems with some parts. I discovered that the exhaust was going to cause problems with the lower link mounts. Also, I found out that I needed 2 cats on the truck in order to get through the smog ref.  I was having problems finding a smog legal replacement cat. I finally found a stock one.  :woohoo:  I picked up this up on friday....

That should make the exo cage a little easier to build.      I finished welding the pair of beadlocks today. I started to figure out the exhaust as well. I am going to make a hard charge at getting it running and driving for the TinBenders Jambo.  :crossed:
