which distributor
« on: Nov 09, 2007, 09:02:34 PM »
I just put a MSD 6AL box and Blaster coil on my 22R, so i figure now would be the best time to relpace plugs, wires, cap and rotor. But I am not sure my vacume advance is working on my distributor. should I fix it or replace it with one off a 20r with only 1 vacume port. the motor is a stock desmoged 22r.

Why don't you test the vacuum advance to see if it is working?

when you rev it up does your timing change?

when I rev it the timing changes, but the timing does not change if I pull the vacume hose off.

I had thought I read somewhere that when you set your timing, if the vacume lines are pluged in it should be at 12 degrees Btdc and with them unpluged it should be 5 Degrees bdtc. However with mine there is no change when you unplug the vacume lines.

yeah the timing should change when the vacuum hose is pulled off. when you pull the hose off is there vacuum at the hose? sometimes they are plugged or hooked up wrong. if there is vacuum at the hose it should change the timing when it's hooked up. i think on mine it changes 4 or 5 degrees.
