88 distributor in a 95

anyone know if the distributor in a 88 3.0 4runner is interchangeable with a 95 4runner?  I know the plugs are different, but if the plugs are swapped, will it work without any issures?  My buddy currently has an 88 dist. in his 95.  we cut the plug off the 88 harness and wire matched it to the 95.  it has been working fine for the past few months.  but his ecm just burned up 2 times in the past year or so.  I just found out that the 88 injectors will burn up the 95 ecu, so we are swapping the injectors out.  but now i'm not sure if the distributor can cause any issues.  any help would be appreciated.

according to summit racing they sell the same distributor for both yrs so i would have to say yes and the one is a acdelco
