OK, so, I have SAS.....But not done completely...ALSO....If I wanted to, I could still take the SAS off and Bolt My IFS right back on....not gonna happend...but just interesting fact. OK, SO, check out my shackle angle

pictures were deleted for better ones... lol

ALSO, I havent decided if Im going to fix the angle by moving the front hanger back or making REGULAR shackle mounts...like on the rear.....just welded strait to the fram....But, thats alot of lift so we shall see. I obviously still need to cut off all the IFS crap, and I guess make a longer driveshaft.......square shaft I guess?   still gotta mess with the brakes a little bit too.   Uh,  I think that is all......Oh, the other fram tube isnt even installed yet.....so who knows what shall happen AND I KNOW MY SHACKLES ARE BACKWARDS BUT WITH THE CURRENT LENGTH PROBLEM THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THEM ON

hmm. looking at that sideshot I might just put the strait shackles from the rear up front...and the booms in the rear.....or buy four new strait steels for the front...shoot that will get me an extra 1/4 of lift

Putting straight shackles on the front won't change were the springs will sit. Move the hanger back about 1" to 1 1/2", that will give you a better shackles angle. I have the same shackles. Your front shackles are on backwards, they should point forward so when the spring compresses past the body mount, the shackle won't hit  :twocents:

PLEASE DO NOT POST ABOUT MY BACKWARDS SHACKLES, I KNOW THEY ARE BACKWARDS>>>BUT THATS THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD GO ON RIGHT NOW

and no...running strait shackles wouldnt fix my angle.....but ive seen trucks run shackle angles that were that bad, I wouldnt want to....but for now....it would get me on the trails without having the boom shackles hitting the body mounts

I still have alot left to do...ALL my IFS upper parts are still attached.

Wouldn't it be easier to just do it right the first time?

MiniSimp

Just get some longer springs (Rears, or Marlins, or Allpros) and then your shackle angle will be fine.

:shake: I missed that even with the caps  :smack:

You could go with a stock shackle, thats what I had to do cause mine sat them same as yours. Now that I have a 12,000lb winch on the front, I just recently put the longer shackles back on.

BoG-ToY

only problem there Is I dont have the regular front shackles......  sucks for me eh?

I think I may move the hand back just a hair, if I flip it backwards it should give me almost half an inch.....then move it back 1/4 inch.....but thats only 3/4 so dont know....thought about saying screw the toyota way and put a shackle tube mounted below the frame....then I could just put it wherever I wanted....but then it might mess up my pinion angle...and it would lift the CRAP out of my truck....probably what another 1.5 of lift....by droping the shackle down almost another  3 inches Im guessing on my numbers cuz I dont really pay too much attention to that

86bobbedtoy

yeah I see the shackle mounted under the frame all the time.

BoG-ToY

yeah well that might be what happens..... but then I will DEFINITALLY need to get rid of the body lift.......

only bad thing I see is that it might make for a bad pinion angle.

BoG-ToY

yeah, I was thinking about running shorter shackles at that point....probably just gonna pop the front hanger off and flip it around...although I do like my axle being a little farther forward

I'm with Minisimp....get some longer springs...the superlift springs are stock length...It will flex much better and solve your shackle issue... I would never even think of doing a sas with stock length springs..that doesnt make much sense to me.... looks good otherwise though...i really like that green color

I have the 6" Alcans that are 1.5" longer than stock & my front hanger is mounted 1" forward.

BoG-ToY

I dont have the money for new springs...and I dont see where 1.5 inches longer would make that much of a difference.......OK. SO,   I cant go back to IFS...its already gone. SO   Leave my shackles at a crappy angle...then save up for springs? might have the money when I roll through fresno........SO, I will probably wait and see.........

Ditto!  Wonder how it'd come out if you just replaced the main leaf with the top two leaves from a mid 80s 2wd rear pack :dunno:

OK then, someone answer me this....HOW MUCH LIFT is REARS GONNA GIVE ME?  You see how much clearence I have up front.....thats with 5" springs......    BUT, remove the 3" of body lift.....am I still gonna clear 35s with just rears up front?

AND nobody has answered if I can use my 89 rears....cus they are longer then the 88 and older springs

last but NOT LEAST, IS MY FRONT HANGER GONNA BE IN THE RIGHT SPOT FOR  SAY MARLINS SPRINGS?    Supposedly thats where tg Wants it mounted to use there kit..........  Ive got the offset on the hanger pointed towards the front.....moving it as far forward as possible  and then the crossbar on the hanger FLUSH with the factory crossmember

BY THE WAY......WHEN I GET HOME TONIGHT....I am either cutting off the front hanger and moving it back.....OR....Im burning it on and leaving it how it is......ONE OR THE OTHER.....BUT ITS GETTING MOUNTED PERMANENTY TONIGHT......SO PLEASE GET ME SOME GOOD ANSWERS BY THEN.

Should be home by 745 CST     If I can burn it on like it is....I can move it around with the bad shackle angles..........

I do plan on buying marlins 6" springs within the next 4 months

This is a 7-leaf rear pack with the hanger mounted flush, and 33" TSL radials.

This should answer your other questions.

yea check pirate TOY FAQ for some more info...I dont really know what to tell you...

one thing is if you are worried about clearance and want to remove the 3" BL...you could possibly cut the lift spacers to 1 or 1½ inches thick

leave the hanger where it is... get longer springs.... you can use the 89 rears up front, but they may be too long.... 84-88 rears up front would be jsut right....

if you want to trade me your boomerang shackles for stock ones, im ok with that ;)

BoG-ToY

Nope, Ive got strait shackles on the rear...although it might lift my front end another half an inch or so, But it will let me go play in the mud on monday.....   I do need to straiten up my frame tubes for my shackles......otherwise its done......this was seriously just a temp fix to get the axle out of my backyard. I can throw away the IFS parts.....well most of them....and actually, a good friend of mine is looking to lift his truck....so the kit might end up going his way.......   I CANT throw away my SFA....so it had to go under the truck before I took off for 2months........

PLUS I WANTED TO GO PLAY IN THE MUD WITH A FRIEND WHO JUST GOT BACK FROM TDY IN VEGAS.....

TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF HOW LONG I WILL RUN THE FRONT AXLE LIKE IT IS........I PUT A WELDED THIRD IN MY FRONT AXLE.....JUST to go play in the mud....for one day....FUN FUN

so....I might be getting springs and longs.....lol
