I have never even looked for a 10-12 pound chicken....dang that is a big chicken (I'll be looking next time I go to the store).  Fried broccoli.....Hmm sounds interesting.  Yup...I can see a beer or twelve helping with creativity...it's all good.  All this camping and cooking talk is definitely motivating me to go camping.

those Purdue Oven Stuffer Roasters are really big. I was just looking online, maybe not that large. I saw one reference of 6-8 lbs. I thought they were larger then that.

I guess 6-8 lbs is a pretty dogum big chicken to begin with. What do I know about chickens! :dunno: I just cook 'em and eats'em. :chew:

Speaking of :chicken:  Anybody ever hear about Mike the Headless Chicken?

It happened Fruita, Colorado in the 1940's and its fer'real! (they even have a Mike the Headless Chicken Festival every year)

OMG!! The Grand Valley Chicken recipe

http://www.miketheheadlesschicken.org/gvchicken.html

is the same recipe I made over the weekend, except it was called Aussie Chicken! I got the recipe from allrecipes.com! (and it is AWESOME btw!) but I don't pound the chicken breasts, just slice them to thickness. It helps if they are partially frozen, but thawed enough to cut.

too funny!

I have some boneless pork chops defrosting in the fridge, I might just have to try that tonight! Why do we always start these conversations right before lunch?? (or is it breakfast?)

It's breakfast for me..8 am.  There has been a lot of food talk here lately.  It must be the summer thing, every one is BBQin' and getting outside more.  I like it.

OK, now that's really weird I had written two words

TABLE

S P O O N

why is it changing S P O O N to sthingy??

Is P O O N a naughty word??  :dunno:  unless combined with a tastey orange flavored powered breakfast beverage (that official drink of NASA), I can't say I've ever heard it used.

Back to a recipe!

Aluminum foil
hamburger
diced potatoes
diced carrots or package of baby carrots
diced onion
diced green pepper
mushrooms
anything else you want

Take a large piece of foil and lay it out, on half of it put handful of hambuger, potatoes, and whatever else you want on it.  Season it, mix it up, I put a splash worcestershire sauce on mine.  Fold the other half over the top and fold the sides up tight.  Place over a fire for about 30 minutes.  And open it up and eat up!  We do this out camping or even at home in the oven!  Like a stew in foil!!  It's really simple, especially if you have everything all prepared in zip lock bags!!

Another little trick we used to do when I was a kid, was take a box of bisquick, mix up some dough and put a small ball (the smaller the better, too big still raw in middle) on a hot dog stick and put it near the hot coals!  Bisquit on a stick!!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

well MrW had to run off on a job last night, so I didn't do the pork chops, but they need to marinade anyway to I mixed up the cajun wing spice recipe (it's a thick paste) and shook the pork chops in a rubber maid container. They are nicely coated and marinated in the fridge as we type.

  :drooling:

That bisquit on a stick idea sound pretty cool cheesemaker!

Did you use the recommended amount of cayenne pepper?  I tried it on a pork roast that I cooked on the grill (I lined a bread pan with aluminum and cooked it in that).  The 1 TBS of cayenne was a little "zippy" on the heat.  I will try reducing the amount of cayenne next time and increase the garlic.

Bisquick is some cool stuff.  I will try the biscuit on a stick.  Aluminum foil meals are the best for fast meals and good taste. Thanks Cheesemaker

I couldn't find the cayenne but I had red pepper flakes. I used less then a 1/2 TBS of that. I threw it all in my little Black & Decker electric chopper. I used olive oil instead of vegetable oil, I love the flavor olive oil adds and gave it a taste. It was kicky but not too hot.
As thick as it was I didn't know if it was going to coat the chops very evenly, but shaking it in the large rubbermaid container did the trick. They are all very evenly coated. Should be great tonight.
I'll put them directly on the grill and see how they do. can't wait  :drooling: (here we go talking about food right before my lunch again!)
Will report back on them tomorrow. :usa:

lol...I have one of those little Black and Decker choppers, it's cool..really convenient.  I also used olive oil.  I will have to try the red pepper flakes.  The Cayenne pepper I used was "designated" 40 heat :dunno: not sure what that means.  I buy my spices in "bulk" and vacuum pack them in canning jars with my food saver...they last forever.  I get the spices from The Sausage Maker catalog.  I think they're on line now too.  You can save some big $$ buying from them and they have good spices too.
