So me and my wife just spent a week in Vegas for our 1 year anniversary. We had a blast!!!
I wrote a quick little writeup on PBB, Here's the short version of our trip
I'll post pic's when I get a chance to upload them all, there's a ton!
Sooo, we got back on Tuesday and had a blast. I've never ate so much food in my entire life but it was great!
I'll start with the food list and critique, in no particular order..
Sherwood Forest in Excaliber - This place has garbage written all over it, we hated the food and I felt sick after eating it.
ESPN Zone in NY NY - We enjoyed ESPNZONE because the food was great and the waiter/waitress seemed to be spot on with the service. Fairly cheap for Vegas. I tried the Chicken Avacado wrap and my wife had Shrimp and Fettucine.
Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY - I believe this was the first place we ate, the food was different but good and the beer was even better! I tried the Ribeye which tasted like what i'd think of if I were in Ireland (if that makes any sense) We sat on the outside against the bridge and people watched for a few hours.. ending in me getting hammered and her getting annoyed.
Harley Davidson - We actually kinda stumbled on this place (in a sense..) because we ( I ) decided we didn't need reservations.. "Doh!" So everywere we went it was completely packed or had a 1-2 hr wait time. BUT I'm glad we went here because the Baby Back Rib's were awesome. Very tender like they should be.. loaded with plenty of sauce. The Harleys moving around the place on a chain driven pully system was cool along with the chain link american flag.
Gallaghers in NYNY - This is one of the upper Steakhouses in NYNY, I gotta say this was the best meal I had all week, I'm a big fan of Ribeyes so I tried it again.. of course this is an ala cart menu so you have to order all your side dishes seperatly which made for the most expensive meal of the week as well but it was well worth it in my opinion. Nothing beats a good Ribeye and Fat Tire on draft!
Diablo's Cantina in Monte Carlo - We actually ate here twice because my fav food is a good Burger. Most expensive burger i've ever eaten but by far the best burger as well. This thing was huge! 15oz monster that you had to construct yourself, it was tough getting your mouth around it but the beef was superb along with the waitresses wearing little to nothing.. needless to say I got pretty hammered here the first time we went and it shortened the night life a bit.
Nathans Hotdog in NY NY - Nothing spectacular.. I just wanted to be able to say I ate at Nathans.. yippe! of course its not the REAL Nathans.. but it'll do...tried a few Chili Cheese Dogs.
Rainforst Cafe in MGM Grand - This had really cool atmosphere with the whole jungle theme and the electronic animals that moved and made noises with the thunder storm and shooting stars. I think I enjoyed the atmosphere more than the food though. We ate here for a light breakfast because we were looking forward to a big meal at Gallaghers for dinner. I had a shredded BBQ chicken wrap which was okay.. nothing amazing.
Kahunaville in Treasure Island - Hmm.. well this was another morning food fest, we walked about 30 minutes to Treasure Island to find out that the food sucked.... I had a burger and my wife had a huge mound of Nacho's. The service was horrible, felt like we were eating in a Denny's or something and after trying Diablo's Burger.. this one just fell short... very short..
Emeril's in MGM Grand - We ate here for our Anniversary and the food was definently out of the norm from what i'm used too BUT... good! The service wasn't that great but we enjoyed trying something different. I had the Cedar Plank Ribeye that was actually served ON a piece of Cedar wood. They didn't carry any draft beer so I had a bottled Fat Tire.. which wasn't AS good.. but still okay. Nothing special.. the steak had some sort of thousand island type dressing on top that kinda killed the steak a bit in my opinion...I'll probably try something different next time we go.
Gameworks - We ate here the night before we left just for a quick bite, it was actually really good and fairly cheap. They had 32oz beer for $3.99 which I took advantage of all night long. I tried they're Baby back rib's because I was craving 'em after eating at Harley Davidson's. Not as good as Harleys Rib's.. but I still enjoyed them. We finished it off with a huge brownie sundae which made my stomach feel like it was goind to explode...... along w/ other things.
That was it for the food.. phew!
Now on to the shows,
We spread the shows out every other day so we didn't really get burnt out and that gave us a day in between to just kinda walk around in/out of the casino's and gamble a little.
First night was David Copperfield, this was my wifes idea.. she loved it.. I said "whoopty" ... nothing spectacular.. nothing out of the ordinary. I think the highlight of that was finding out that night after the show that he was in deep
with the law. The drinks were outragous, beer was 8 bucks and mixed drinks were 15... we had a few and called it a night shortly after the 1 hr 30 min show.
Third night was KA, along with Gallaghers this is really what made the trip for us. We really enjoyed the theatrical work put into the story that was played out. Full of excitment and a must see for anything going to Vegas! The verticle fight scene's, full surround sound experiance was just AMAZING! My wife loved it so much she decided to purchase a $45.00 picture that was sold after the show.................................
Fifth night was Crazy Horse, yea.... it made the fourplay that night much easier..haha.. the show was cool. It consisted of a woman coming out and a narrator explains her Zodiac sign.. then it followed with a performance for all the Zodiac signs. I think my wife enjoyed a bit more then I did which was arrosing to say the least.
Smaller shows included the Bodies Exhibit which I really enjoyed. Being able to see things close up and personal knowning that they are completely real is cool! They show you all kinda of crazyness, seeing what cancer looks like.. veins...bones, muscle, organs. The coolest thing in my opinion was seeing a child being born from just a few weeks up until it's ready to come out... that just absolutely blew me away.
Titanic Exhibit which is right next to Bodies in the Tropicana, I gotta be honest.. i've never even watched this movie but I know for the most part what happened. My wife is a Titanic fanatic so this was more for her then myself but we both had a great time exploring all the artifacts that were dug up. The most amazing part for myself was that section were you walk out on a mock up deck that feels incredible REAL... its cool.. windy.. the floor moves.. the railing, old wood and stary night with water was a life like experiance.
The first day we walked through MGM Grand we decided to review one of the new up and coming series on CBS. It was a documentary about sick cats that get treated in hospitals... we're both big cat lovers so it was kinda sad but we enjoyed the more uplifting parts of the program.... and it killed some time.
Other then that we walked nearly the entire strip and went into almost every Casino along with the Fashion Mall, took many pictures... watched the water show a few times while passing the Bellagio. Ordered a few movies up in the room, watched some TV.. and all in all had a great time. Next trip to Vegas will definently be for a UFC Fight.
That's all!
