I think to use the calipers you have to get the vented rotors.  I think.

width...I have looked at both styles and the ones on my 79 (which I think are roughly the same up to 85) are not as wide as the vented style.  But this is just eye-balling, so I could be wrong.  If you want to use the calipers I think you also have to upgrade your MC.  79coyote could tell you alot better than me.

solid axle rotors  are like 3/8 inch thick

ifs  and  other vented rotors  are  close to 1 inch

personally, I would definitly use the calipers and buy rotors and an MC.  Other than that, I don't think you can use anything in the swap.

ok dave...keep the wheel hubs and the calipers.  buy some 1984 FJ40 rotors.  use a sky kit(pm sent) to make it match up. you get vented rotors and better brakes up front for little $$$ investment.

I am looking for the wheel hubs too. The locking hubs can be used if you buy the Bobby Long 300m piece.

Wheel bearings are the same.
Spindles?? Can't remember right now....I think it is part of the knuckle?
That' s about it.
