Got a few chainsaws given to me.  I'm going to clean them up, see if I can get them running and probably get rid of one of the macs.

Bike..... well, I'll let you guess what my plans might be.  :psss: if I've already told you, you aren't allowed to say it here

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!

And the bike...

Thought about it, but that'd be even more gutless than the engine I plan on transplanting...

Duff, that'd be cool, but I'd still have to come up with something to make it go

Oh :smack: , I didn't even remember his name!  Yup, it's his.  If I can dig up my old 22re fuel pump, he'll trade me for an ...... engine :haha:

I am by no means an expert on these things but, I love that Stihl. I like that it doesn't have all the huge hands guards on it, and that actually looks like it would be dangerous to use :D.
There is a fine line between clever and stupid, I just wish I knew when I crossed it.

Alright, since you fawkers have absolutely no imagination  :shake: , this WAS what I wanted to do, but after doing my research it seems there's a lot more involved than I want to get involved with.

No imagination? that's been done before. I think BBR started it way back when I still had a bike.

kneedownnate

:psss: been done for a loooooong time down by hangtown, to race at a backyard track called langtown.

I'm not saying I'm being original, but it's not like these things grow on trees either!  BBR makes some super sweet bikes, but those things are crazy spendy :pimp:

That's too much trouble?  Really?  Got a link to anyplace where I can read up on it?

We're gonna have to think of something dumb to put in there.  If you're going to go to the trouble, might as well make it worthwhile.  XR200 engines are fairly light and compact for the displacement - might make a decent swap if you found a good'un and jammed it full of hot rod parts.  And a supercharger.  Don't think I'm joking, either...I know just how to do it...packaging would be an issue, but other than that, no worries.  Hell, we can inject it too while we're at it.  IIRC they have a baby MegaSquirt board out that would work fine on a motorsickle.  :eyebrow:

That is assuming, of course, that you want to stay with a single cylinder engine...!

kneedownnate

Been too long since you've spied an xr200 engine  :screwy:  They're pretty hefty comparatively.  You have to cut off the frame just below the head tube and just in front of the footpegs and rebuild it to fit the xr 75 engine.  I just don't think I could make it nice enough.  Fabbing on bike frames is a whole nother ball game.

Ideally you get a crf230 engine and a frame kit from bbr, but that's cash.

kneedownnate

If you lived here still I'd be a lot more likely to persue it.  You have a lot more patience than I do for these little projects.  They made it look so clean in the pics that I thought it was merely a matter of hacking the mounts off the frame and welding on new ones, even brought home one of the engines to fit it.

te51levin

Hmm.  If you gotta rebuild the whole frame, either just keep it stock or go really radical...jam a Banshee engine or something in it.

I'll think on it.  Gotta get some sleep now though.

kneedownnate

No banshee, not in a mini frame.  If I can find a cr engine cheap enough I may snag that, go with a big bore kit (if I can find one), add a flywheel weight and fmf torque pipe and make a neat little woods weapon.

I'd forgotten about that!
I've been out of it for about 5-6 years...I have no cash for a bike.
