L50 Transmission problems...
« on: Oct 08, 2007, 12:06:17 PM »
I bought an 81' Toyota with a 22r/L50 5speed trans. I cannot get it into 5th gear . It just makes a grinding sound. It has  new master and slave cylinders and the guy I bought it from put a new seat and socket in it. I have been told it has either a bent or worn shift fork. How can I tell with out dropping the trans??? Or could it be something else????

New discovery...if I push the clutch in to the floor tight and put it in 5th gear , I can get it in gear from a stand still occassionally.

Sounds like bad hydraulics or linkages, then.

Try rebleeding your clutch.
