Chris, what zone did that monster 3 point come out of?  Is it possible that it's a hybrid?  That's really nice for a mulie even :haha:

Pat, you kill lots of aminals!  Some nice bucks for sure.

Olivedrab, that's a tall rack and a fat buck!  Nice job!

C-4, about 20 miles out of Butte Meadows on Humbug Summit Road.

That deer is pretty big regardless isnt it? At first I thought it was a mule but I guess not. Its large nonetheless

Dooood...something tells me I wouldn't get the same agreement up this way.  I think it rains more here than it does in England.

had plenty of opportunity's to make a kill friday and saturday but held off in my search for the one I missed with my bow earlier in the season.  Saw 5 bucks and 7 does friday 2 of which were about 18" wide and then hunted some higher altitute thicker areas yesterday where the deer obviously were not at and only saw 1 buck and 3 does.  They are fully getting it in the rut right now running all around and chasing each other though its pretty cool up there.  I'll be back next thursday night again so maybe i'll get my chance.  I did jump a big guy right near where I missed that one but didnt get a look at him he never stopped so i think that was the one im looking for.  He'll slip up again and this time ill be ready for him

kneedownnate

This was on your property again?  Wish I had those opportunities, but hunting public land in b zone means you're litterally nut to butt with everybody else.  You can get back into the wilderness and not see another hunter, but I've also never seen a buck in those areas either.

I'll be going on vacation from the 11th to 22nd of this month and plan on scouring the hills around my hometown.  There is 1 spot in the alps that I kinda liked for deer, but I'd hafta pack in and spend a few days.

ya all on my property.  I also saw a really nice buck in the road on my property at about 11pm on thursay night.  He was a shooter for sure but I didnt see him the next day.  from what I hear there is some pretty good public land hunting up there in the trinity area. you should be able to find something in 11 days of hunting regardless of how many others are out there

You'd think, but if history repeats it'll be tough.  It's really hit and miss sometimes, I've had people and friends shoot deer right after I left an area, or I'd go left, they'd go right and BAM!  We'll see, I plan to log some miles, but I also plan to do something I've never been able to pull off... just sit and glass an area.  Never had the patience, but I'd like to try to find a spot where I can sit and watch the sun come up on a hillside and wait for movement.  :crossed:

I've always wanted to find a good saddle or drainage and see if they will flush down through.  Seems like they're heading down to low ground already, so I don't think I'll be spending lots of time in the high country.

ive been trying the whole sit and glass thing my whole life and i never see :pokinit: except one time I saw a bear.  usually I sit forever and dont see :pokinit: and then walk 50 feet and a deer is standing right there.  Maybe im just not out early enough

I just don't have the patience to sit there and thoroughly look over an area, then look over it again, and again, and again....

I'm not the best at noticing stuff, so I'm better off beating the brush or walking all over.  I'm just more likely to stumble on something like that, or like in the case of one hunt have one following 35 feet behind me on a trail :haha:

You are having a heat wave right now, right?  We're starting to cool off decently and have a storm coming in.  Looks like conditions might be ideal for nate's vacation :eyebrow:

*this is kneedownnate, just didn't want to log out of dad's account*

Went out early this morning for deer.  It was raining and I was the first vehicle up the hill until another truck came up behind me, just let him go.  Not sure where he went cause I lost his tracks, but the further I got I noticed I was again the first.  Saw a few does early, started getting into a light snow, started to stick then...... buck!  I checked it out and determined it wasn't big enough for the first day of the hunting, but in retrospect I probably should have just shot him anyway.  Decent little 3 point anyway.

Gives me a good feeling for the rest of my vacation though!
