What's everyone running for IFS Lifts?
« on: Sep 20, 2007, 10:28:09 PM »
Hey guys,
I've done quite a bit of searching on this topic and am curious as to what everyone's running for IFS lifts.

Reason why: I've got a 2000 taco trd 4x4 and want to add a bit of lift to level out the truck and possibly run 33's for
mild wheeling (death valley, mojave) and for baja expedition type of trips (the high speed thang).
Thus, I'd love to get all of your guy's input on what you all like.

I don't want to hear about sas... yada yada as I've already got a fully built sas rockcrawler (see my signature). Believe me, if I had the cash, I'd go 4 link sas w/ diamond housing etc. :)

I just want to beef up the stock components a bit and do some mild wheeling and pre-running so everyone's input would be awesome.

kit's I've looked at so far are:

OME
all pro coilover
camburg coilover (non-long travel)
total chaos coilover (non-long travel)
randy ellis/donahoe racing coilovers...

anybody running any of these?

Thanks y'all.

Peace out,
LA_Fred

I have never owned an IFS toyota (except for a corolla lol) so I dont have "first hand" experience in what works best for me....HOWEVER, my friend had a 93 baja truck that has a Gen 1 Total Chaos caddy kit on it which widens up the front but still allows 4WD with the use of t100 axles, and i think that is the best investment by far. If you arent looking for something that hardcore I would go with the coilover kit. I just know that we beat the bejeesus out of that truck and he would break motor mounts and wheels but he never broke anything on that TC front suspension.

I have some OME 882s upfront.  I have been happy, then again im new to the whole IFS thing.  I dont really have any other choice, im not going to drop 900+ on coilovers, just to have them tore up by road salt.

I'm not running this kit, but Sonoran Steel makes some that I like.  They are supposed to flex better than the desert racing coilovers..etc etc, yada yada.

It's down near the bottom of the page.

For mild high speed go with Donahoe extended coilovers and Total Chaos UCA's, otherwise if you really want to hit the bumps LT is the only way to fly....... My rig is a compromise, so I can play on the rocks and go fast, in both cases it's a nice smooth ride, would never think of SASing.

BTW I will eventually build a buggy for the really tough stuff, almost have everything I need to start.

Don't Ask when I'm gonna go SAS, I'm not... I'll build a buggy first!
