i have a 85 runner with 4.88's r/p and 35" bfg muds
for motor i have a 22re that has been slightly bored a light cam, bigger valves/ new springs, balanced injectors, lc header, magnaflow cat, flowmaster muffler, 2.25" exhaust and downey intake.
does fine on the flats 70mph easy but sucks on the hills. thinking of super duper charging it
just wondering how other peoples set ups do.

i average 15 mpg
at best 200mi on 13 gallons=15.38

I have an 87 4Runner, 5.29 gears with 35's & I got about 18/19 mpg going up to MCR & is was loaded with camping gear, tools & a spare 35" tire. Got about 20 on the way home

I get 18 in mine, combined. No matter what I seem to do, it still goes about 240-250 miles before the gauge says E.(yes, I know there's some in the tank still, but better safe than sorry)

P.S. - a new O2 sensor, plugs, and air filter made a 2mpg difference.

Stock 85 pickup, 22RE, 4.10s, 30s. I can get up to 21 in town, worst has been about 14, seems to stay around 18. On the highway, I have gotten very close to 25 going 60-70 mph.

20-26mpg at 65 unloaded
17-19 city

87 4runner with 260x75x15" bfg at tires, stock gears and 5 speed manual. 22re motor.

87 sb truck 5 speed 22r 4.30 gears with 33's gets 22 in town and 24 on highway after calculating actual mileage for larger tires.

87 4runner 5 speed 22re 4.30 geears with 32's gets 22 in town, 22 highway after calculating for larger tires.

The 4Runner weighs a LOT more. It has a winch, roof rack, etc.

4.3 chevy is pretty good. many s10 trucks with that motor get in the low 20's highway in stock form

what do the 3rz motors get for gas?? i was thinking of super charging my lightly built 22re for around $3200 but now iam thinking of swaping in a 3rz. not sure yet. the chev 4.3 would be nice but i have heard it can be a head ache. that and keeping it all toyota would be cool.

average drive speed is 45-55, got a 22re 4.10s and 35s, NO FIFTH GEAR, its messed up, Im getting about 23 average

speedo says 18. but math says if I go 18 miles by my odometer, that Ive gone 23 miles.....just to make that clear

toybuilt has an 83 sr5 with a 4.3 chev, granny 4 speed, 4.56s and we got about 12 on the drive from sac area to the rubicon a few weeks ago

but toybuilts right foot is REALLY heavy. i bet he could do 18 if he wanted

I went 260 & averaged 17.26 mpg Most of thst was freeway 65-70 mph.

A lot of 3rz'd crawlers are getting 17-19 on the freeway loaded with gear. Mine gets around 15 all town.
