Even with just a header and exhaust it will cause the motor to run lean. `

So basically you open the AFM box and richen the mix and then using the LC kit you slightly lean it out   till you have the right mix. Correct?

actually I read it wrong the first time, you have to lean it first the richen it from the module.

Well wont the computer run lean because of the mods to the motor?  Sorry im just trying to figure this out. Im putting a engnbldr head on my motor next week and i want to get it all running correctly.

it might. the best thing to do is hook up an A/F meter to be sure.

THK Matt

so do you think that if i had an intake, header, highflow cat, & crawler cam... the AF meter would be worth getting? with what you have experienced in your truck?

the A/F meter would be worth getting even if you had a stock setup. It can be used as a diagnostic tool.

"Fuel Mixtures - Too Rich, Too Lean "

Running "lean" can be too much air.
Running "rich" can be not enough air.
Running "lean" can be not enough fuel.
Running "rich" can be too much fuel.

"As we all know, an overly "rich" or "lean" condition in the motor can be costly. Especially in a new or rebuilt engine. The point made above simply states that, if your engine is running too "rich", it doesn't necessarily mean that it's getting too much fuel. These conditions can change any time you add a performance part to your engine.

"Rich" fuel conditions cannot only contribute to poor fuel economy, but it can lead to a poorly operating engine. Extreme "rich" conditions can cause significant engine damage, especially to a brand new or re-built engine. "Lean" fuel conditions can cause just as much of the same problems of a "rich" condition. In some cases, a "lean" motor may cause piston and cylinder head damage. This is why proper tuning is so important.

Factory EFI (22RE) motors do have the ability to be tuned for an overly "rich" or "lean" condition. LC Engineering stocks a Pro Tuning Kit (Part #1065024) that includes a Cyberdyne Mixture Meter and a Pro Tuning Module that will give you the ability to adjust the fuel curve of the engine. This will assist in tuning the factory EFI computer to suit any higher performance parts that have been added to the motor.

Carbureted engines have the ability to control "rich" or "lean" conditions by installing different sized jets in the carburetor to adjust for those conditions. Again, proper tuning of an engine will contribute to longer life, better performance and possibly better fuel economy to an already proven Toyota engine. "

awesome.... thanks man.
looks like i know what ill be getting.

and we you get to knowing the exact HP & TQ numbers your engine is producing... let me know.
im quite curious.

IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

yeah, its a potentiometer. same thing as a guitar volume control... that stuff just happened to come with my motor :)

potentiometer (or 'pot' for short) describes an electrical device which has a user-adjustable resistance. Usually, this is a three-terminal resistor with a sliding contact in the center (the wiper). If all three terminals are used, it can act as a variable voltage divider. If only two terminals are used (one side and the wiper), it acts as a variable resistor.

Do you have any idea where i could buy the gauge that comes with the kit? Also on the potentiometerm im looking for a 5 ohm but do you know how many watts it should be?
